as one of the main drivers to us exiting the cult he is very excited about never going to a meeting again.. if i knew how to load pictures i would let you see his plan for christmas lights next year.
apparently we are having a sleigh with reigndeers.
What a cutie pie!

since half of them ended up at my house on friday and saturday nights i was given a very shining report card.
he then told me that he would knock on my door bright and early in the morning to take me to breakfast with him and his wife.
a couple of them told they enjoy the articles i write in the art magazines and they were really happy to meet me.
Still one of my favorites.
Dave - Haven't seen you here for a long time but I think you may lurk once in while. Hope you are doing better and having fun. Did you ever write the follow-up? Many of us would love to hear it.
And if you haven't written it yet but would prefer to just verbally record it, I would volunteer to do the transcription.

let me state that these sensational types of threads are counter-productive, in my humble opinion.
the whole "spying" thing and the cameras and secret recordings in shower stalls and toilets is nutty!.
do these threads help you to see how the organization is wrong?.
When they pop up I may take a glance - especially when it hits 10 pages.
But they do not inspire me to anything but a good eye roll and heavy sigh.
While I have no doubt that some Bethelites monitor or watch or even post here, the sensationalistic threads just make me think that the person reporting the story is a bit 'off'. I get an image of rabid, foaming apostate. Not a good image and definitely not credible.

don't wait.
update your advance medical directives before you find yourself in my situation.... .
my left arm was feeling 'odd' last friday morning as i was getting dressed for work.
bttt - because it's a good reminder.
Especially with all the newbies who may not have thought of this.

hi folks.
i wondered if any of you ex elders can help me to figure out what my status is and therefore how to log out from the borg.
i was baptized at 15, faded at 18. never heard anything from the elders after their first visit, which wasn't about a big deal and had no conclusion.
What Happened wrote: That's the last thing I want is the Hospital Liason coming to visit me when I don't feel good in the hospital.
If you have been admitted to a hospital in the past and told them you were a JW, contact the hospital as well and tell them to change that info. If your hospital or doctor has and AMD (Advance Medical Directive) on file for you, rescind it not.
I did not do this and was hospitalized for emergency treatment. At registration in the ER I told them to remove JW from my record. When nurses came to my bed to review info, they said "JW?", I said NOPE. It took 3 tries while in the hospital and then when I returned a week or two later, it STILL showed JW.
Not only that, but I had and AMD on file and it's a bitch to try and change that stuff when you are already in their care.
And, yes, I did indeed get an unexpected visit from a friendly elder whom I had never met.
Here is the link to my story:
BTW - Porfida, Maksym and What Happened - Welcome to JWN! It's nice to have you join us. And Maksym - nice that you decided to chime in~!!
-Aude.
PS: Porfida - sorry for the brief hijack. What Happened's concern *can* happen. It did to me!
...on how many people have joined jwn during the years?.
lately i seem to see an influx of new people signing up.
a report of user sign-ups maybe by year or whatever breakdown available could be very "upbuilding" and "encouraging" to lurkers.
Nice.

this is what is paraphased by an ex-elder who has lots of contacts.. .
updated: johnny the bethelite's revelations!.
what follows is not a verbatim transcript but a now updated summary.
It makes me laugh that they were disfellowshipped for having an alternate Bible study, when you consider this is the same exact thing that CT Russell did in the beginning when he was associated with the Seventh Day Adventists.
Afraid of competition maybe??

was there a person, a book, a situation that helped you see that the "truth" was not what it was supposed to be?
?.
So many little things: Disrespect of children and disregard of children's rights. Knowledge of child sexual abuse in my congregation and how it was (mis-)handled by the elders. Physical spouse and child abuse in my own home and how it was (mis-)handled by the elders. Teen girls with no father being the congregation scapegoat for *all* the kids and how they were (mis-)handled by the elders.
Actually, so many little things made me start to get out. They got me to the point of 'stepping aside' and separating myself from what I thought was the right organization going down a wrong path.
Family and old friends interaction with me when I was diagnosed with cancer after I had faded for about 4 years.
12 or 13 years later finding JWD/N. THAT truly helped me realize that I was shackled.
Within a few days of reading on this board, these three issues cinched it for me:
1. Mexico / Malawi
2. UN NGO
3. 607 BCE
I learned about all three of those issues within a day or so of each other. But I think UN NGO was the *most* disturbing as I felt I really had been manipulated into a cult. 607 made me realize my intellect had been 'played'. Mexico/Malawi was just cruel and definitely *not* united.
No looking back. I will not return to the org.

sara is a teenager who lives with her family, who are jehova's witnesses.
the family's devout image is questioned when the parents divorce as a consequence of the father's infidelity.
one night at a party sara meets teis, an older boy who takes an interest in her.
