it has been a long time since i have posted.
time heals much pain, and finally, my family and i have been able to move on with our life outside of jw land.. many of you became our friends, our support system, and you know very well our exit story...we were labeled, slandered and disfellowshipped for having questions regarding the date 607. we sent out letters exposing the elders and circuit overseer to over 200 families.

LL and BP I think of your story often and was thinking of you today. Found this post and just had to give you a 'congrats' on so cleanly and successfully getting on with your lives. Regardless of how your daughter's career turns out, it's great that she at least has the opportunity to follow her dream.

salem, ore. -- the oregon state medical examiner's office announced monday the death of 21-year-old whitney heichel was caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
heichel's body was found friday afternoon on larch mountain in east multnomah county.. .
It's nice that the family and cong are trying to somehow include the community in the service. With so much emotion in what seems to be a loving community, I think this 'open house' type of event will leave the mourners feeling empty. My guess is that the elders will try to create a warmer style of funeral talk, but having it in the Kingdom Hall, I don't see much real comfort for the community.
The difference between a JW funeral and a normal worldy funeral is worlds apart.
My guess is that the attendees will feel empty and confused.

when i was a child i used to hope celebrities i liked (or wanted to boink) died before armageddon.
I never thought to kill some out of 'love' but there were soo many strong feelings of hoping someone would die so they would be resurrected.
For the few that did die (like grandparents), I never properly grieved their actual passing. Decades later, I still have occaisional overwhelming sense of loss. Loss of loved one and loss of time that was squandered while they were still alive. Not getting to know them as well as I should/could have, instead, time was spent preaching to them.

My heart goes out to this family. Such a horrific tragedy.
I went thru a similar thing but took 19months to find the body of the missing friend (daughter of the PO). That murder has never been solved but those first 19 months were the worst as there was no closure until her body was found.

my father passed around 9 this morning.
he'd been in poor health for some time, but it still comes as a shock to have him gone.
we are going to miss him terribly.
