  Talking Janet Jackson and Religious Freedom with the Wife

  my recent sidewalk discussion with a couple of jw's has gotten me in the mood to say more when appropriate.so the wife and i were riding in the car and cat stevens comes on.

  i mentioned to her that cat stevens left music when he was still popular and converted to islam back in the 1970's- how he was told that his music would have to be morally acceptable and he found it easier to just abandon making new music for at least 20 years.

  so i didn't really remember all the details and i figured the conversation would die.

  Great exchange of ideas! and great examples of religious control.

  What I *really* like about this conversation (attempt to wake her up) is that all three examples can come back into her thoughts often and at any given time. Without you even saying another word on the matter, she will likely remember the discussion whenever Cat Stevens or Janet Jackson (or other Jackson) comes on the radio, whenever you meet with your family friend from China, or whenever Chinese Immigrants are mentioned on TV.

  Almost like an earworm, she may well have a hard time *not* remembering your comments.

  i saw a new video on youtube the jws put out.

  it was an elder in his basement and other jws were showing up knocking with a special knock to get in.

  outside you could hear people yelling where are the witnesses.

  1st month of fading

  i'm nearly at the end of my first month of becoming inactive.

  only my daughter knows.

  i've had a cold half of the month so no questions or pressure has been put on me yet.

  Best not to respond before reading the thread. I change my suggestions. My above suggestions worked for me - although I was NOT trying to fade at the time. It just worked out that way. This may not be the best way for the OP.
  

  In the OPs situation (children and separation from loyal JW), change of phone number and leave record card where it is actually sounds better. Utilize email communication because you are very busy with the move and fighting the cold and because you want to really hear and understand what your spouse is saying and take time to respond because you want to give the matter respectful consideration. (and it gives you record of coercion, if you need it.)
  

  Definitely get involved with other parents and playmates for your kids. Does your local library have story time for children? Go there!

  Maybe start a thread asking how other make friends for both themselves and their very young children.

  Move your publisher record card to the new congregation.

  If you are close enough, visit your OLD congregation once or twice in the next couple of months.

  Go to your new congregation only a few times during the first 2 months because you are having trouble shaking that cold.

  Have meetings at work a few times on meeting nights (but go see a movie, even if just by yourself).

  Go to ANOTHER, different hall and only stay for 30 minutes or so.

  Go to ANOTHER, hall for 30 minutes of so, if one is near enough to you.
  

  Anyone who asks, you can honestly say that you are attending a few different halls and you are still fighting that darn cold! You think it might be more than just a cold and you don't want them to catch it. Work is going great, you are really happy with your move and overall you are doing just great. Thank you for asking. Gotta go, my phone is ringing.

  I know this shouldn’t bother me...but

  so i woke up this morning with nothing planned for the day.

  i rolled out of bed around 9am and went to local mcky ds to get some breakfast, and lord and behold there was a group of jdubs sitting around eating and sipping on coffee, probable counting time.

  anyway, i glanced over and recognized all of them and they glanced back at me.

  I am successfully faded for many years.

  It took a long time for me to lose the awkward feeling when encountering JWs that I used to know.

  Then one day I ran into a couple at a local restaurant. They looked really sad. And I'm not sure they saw (or recognized me). So on my way out I stopped by their table and with a smile I said 'Hi! I'm (my real name). I remember you. How are you and the kids?"

  They proceeded to tell me sad things.

  And when they asked how I was, I happily responded that I was doing really well! New career going great. Just bought new home in nice neighborhood. Keeping in touch with my family. Parents are getting older but overall doing well.

  It felt soo good to honestly present myself in a good light and focus on what is right in my life without falling into the 'whoa is me' conversation that so many JWs have.

  Ever since that encounter with the sad-looking couple, I have made it a point to look JWs in the eye and smile broadly and sincerely. And if we talk, I make sure to tell them something GOOD that is going on in my life.
  

  I wonder what would have happened if the OP had walked up to that table in Mickey D's and said "Hi guys! Good to see you. Have a great weekend! Bye~!!"...

  Regular pioneers comprise 15% of PEAK Publishers?

  WOW! That is significant ratio. Granted, the carts and reduced hours requirement make it easier to attain.

  But 15% of PEAK is significant. I wonder what the number of Average Publishers is?

  Would that bring the ratio up to near 20%?

  If so, that is one of every five witnesses - pioneering.

  Sounds extraordinarily high. Impressive, even. Thus, very sad for the sheeple.

  At least they feel they have some purpose for themselves albeit deluded purpose.

  15-20%. I am very surprised at this.

  How and Why the ARC into Child Sexual Abuse In Institutions Came About.

  a program is to be aired on abc tv tonight called : "undeniable :the advocates and agitators who fought for justice" to be shown at 9:30 pm aust.eastern daylight saving time in victoria.. while it doesn`t show anything from what i can gather, about jw`s ,it mainly concentrates on the catholic and anglican churches and if you want to make a comparison the abuse in the jw`s pales by comparison as an institution .. having said that their were some/one champions of jw child sex abused that made sure by their arguments that the jehovah witness religion should not be excluded from this royal commission as they wern`t initially included in this enquiry.. the full/final report of this arc is to be handed down later this week..
