  When you left JW, how did you help transition your kids?

  my situation: i da'd this past march.

  the ex is still jw, in a city nice and far away so isn't able to give me any local grief.

  i have three kiddos, 8, 10 and 12. the 8yo (boy) could really give a crap, i think.

  My pain meds are kicking in so I can't remember specific strategies but there are a few people that come to mind who posted their experience with this. Maybe look back at some of their posts.

  I'm sorry but this is just the funniest DA letter I've ever read. And the best laugh I've had all day.

  I hope that doesn't offend you at all because I really do think it's criminal how the WTS tears families apart. I know remember your very first post and how angry you were. I hope your DA notice was healing for you and truly believe that you have chosen the 'morally-correct' path. You chose to respect your brother as a lovable human being.

  It's a shame that the rest of your family is not.

  Now on to planning and enjoying the rest of your life.

  i read somewhere that jw's can vote now?

  it was in a kingdom ministry a few years back.

  i remember being told that voting for anything but jehovah was a sin.

  It might be one of those "of course they are allowed to...(accept blood transfusions, join the military, vote). It's a 'conscience' matter." But when someone does, it means that they have, by their actions, disassociated themselves.

  Don't know for sure. Seems I heard something about this but can't think of any active witness who would even think of voting.

  Maybe it's a new breed of urban legend?

  she wanted to borrow some money.

  so she could go and attend a funeral.

  Not meaning to try to top your story, but I think I can...

  About 15 years ago my father's father (non-jw) died and I decided to fly back east to be with family. (I hadn't decided if I would attend the actual funeral - because I was an active witness - but I knew I wanted to be there.) I needed a ride to the airport. My mother LIVES to drive people the airport. Anybody. Any reason. Anytime.

  But not for me. No. She just didn't want to take me.

  When I asked 'please' and 'why?' her response was: "Why do you even need to go back there? It's not like you can actually do anything for him. He's dead, Denise. Dead. There's no reason for you to go."

  In my entire life, in and out of the organization, noone besides my mother has ever asked me why I wanted to go to any funeral or memorial service. And certainly noone questions when it's a grandparent.

  Crazy people, they are.

  i've changed my avatar, 'cos after a few comments on here about me being an 'old man' i realised that some people thought my old one was a pic of me.

  it wasn't (honest) it ws a scan of a postcard.

  i'm not that old (50).. so now, i'll use a pic of the car instead.

  Any Tricks or Tips for getting around on crutches??

  does anyone have any tricks or tips for getting around on crutches??.

  i did a stupid thing friday afternoon and ended up in the emergency room with a broken ankle and a torn up knee.

  i'm now on crutches - lucky me... .

  FHN - 3months?? as a teenager?? your poor parents..!! nothing showed in your picture... I cannot put any weight on the knee at all. It gives out and sort of collapses. I guess it's me that collapses. But either way, it cannot support me unless I lock it in place and just stand still. Is the pic supposed to be a little rolling stool or something? You paste didn't take. -Aude.
