  Witnessing by Mail - Where Do They Get the Addresses From???

  i'm wondering where the publishers get their address lists when they do 'witnessing-by-mail'.. i live in a gated community (moved here 6-years ago).

  this week i received a letter addressed to my *parents* (mr. & mrs. xxxxxxx xxxxx) who have been divorced for 17 years and neither of whom have *ever* lived at this address.. i'm thinking the "mr & mrs" part is just an assumption on their part.. from time to time i get mail address to my father (blue cross solicitations, etc), but he has never used my address as his own and has never lived here.. any suggestions as to just how the local cong would get his name and my address on their mailing list??????.

  Costs of Circuit Assembley

  recent we had a circuit assembley.

  we used the jw assembley facility.

  it's (the building) totaly payed off without any mortage.

  1.040.000 annually for a building that is paid off, uses volunteer labor for maintenance and the speakers are also not paid.

  That's a pretty good little scam, don't you think??

  Had a Frustrating Discussion with Mom...

  my 80 something year old mom is a die hard jw, but to her credit, she has not shunned me.

  as would be expected, she is always "praying" that i return to jah and get reinstated.

  is consistent...every time my wife and i see her, she always tries to steer the conversation to "how bad the world" has become.. today, she escalated the "theocratic attack" by coming out directly and asking me what i thought of world conditions.

  It's mighty slippery. And oh! so easy to take that little step over the line!!

  I think we all understand your frustration. It's so nice that you both still have a workable relationship.

  I'm just a little jealous. Probably other posters are, too.

  Maybe just reassure her that you are 'good' with Jehovah. And let her rest easy and not fret so much about your eternal life.

  so my wife's cousin known as "free" on this site told us of this new documentary coming soon.

  i'm not sure if it's coming soon to theatres, independent film theatres, or just dvd.

  the movie is called truth be told.

  how much money flows into the watchtower coffers at their annual fund raiser the district convention?.

  former witness lurene stanley working along with her high ranking jw.

  husband had the opportunity to see what goes on in the back room at disrtict conventions.

  Many on this forum rush to judgement and immediately criticize anything Koolaid-man posts. Strong minded reasonable ones wait patiently, research the content in the thread and without hesitation listen to the conference call before making a premature evaluation.

  You were soooo trained by the WTS. Writing style direct from HQ.

  he was powerful, tall and intelligent, yet humble and kind.

  So very sorry to hear this news and hope things went well with the funeral/memorial talk.

  I agree with you... You and your dad were both doing what you could to help improve the lives of JWs - whether they chose to stay in or leave, you each found a way to provide support and comfort.

  Elder Involvement — Graphic … Conclusion

  today i added to my blog page 13 of the 13-page submission by a doctor of psychology that is a watchtower appointed elder.

  i also added the documents bibliographic page.

  he had ideas about elder involvement with jehovahs witnesses suffering mental illness, and particularly victims of child abuse, and thought it best to share these with watchtower.

  Apostafest weekend

  this weekend has been awesome!!

  ok the apostafest consisted of only 3 people, but it was a weekend to let out all the supressed emotions from 26 years of wt slavery.

  we went to a heavy metal concert in a pit full of moshing and crowd surfing, screaming along to their lyrics (my throat is sore).
