It's funny to me that JWs are so conditioned to avoid and distrust *anything* that does not originate from the WTS/org itself.

While talking to my non-jw aunt and uncle, my single, hardcore jw sister responded to their inquiry about dating sites for JWs - like J-Date - she smiled pretty, shook her head and said "There *are* some, but none of them are from the official organization."

I started to reason with her that it is just social -interaction in the computer age. My thinking was that is is similar to having a non-official 'get-together' with people from various congregations.

She darted me a critical sneer then sweetly repeated her comment to our aunt and uncle: 'There are sites, but they are not sponsored or supported by headquarters.'

Sad.

Part of me wants to say 'What's the harm in letting people meet and mingle?'

Then I remember things that happen when JWs actually *do* speak honestly without their JW filters. Terrible things happen. Like people learn the Truth About the 'Truth'.

And websites like JWD/JWN grow and take hold.

So family members yet again remain captives of the concept they choose to put above all else - including their own freedom and happiness.

QUESTION: What To Do When Public School Does Not Take Report of Indecency Seriously

a (non-jw) woman that i work with has a daughter in public high school.

last week, the daughter walked in on a male teacher watching what seems to be a soft-porn scene on youtube.

she witnessed him unbuckle his belt and then appeared to be masterbating.. this occurred on school property while students were still onsite.

A (non-jw) woman that I work with has a daughter in Public High School. Last week, the daughter walked in on a male teacher watching what seems to be a soft-porn scene on YouTube. She witnessed him unbuckle his belt and then appeared to be masterbating.

This occurred on school property while students were still onsite. (I do not know if it was during school hours or not.)

The daughter reported the incident to the principal and another administrative person was present.

After the weekend, the mother (my co-worker) called the school to see what was being done about this incident. The school said there is nothing for her or them to do as the matter has been referred to the police.

So the mother called the police and the police say that no report has been filed with them. She filed a report and now feels that she may want to get an attorney for her daughter. The daughter says she was called back to the principal again and interrogated. The daughter feels like she is being harassed and considered a liar. She is now afraid of retaliation from the (offending) teacher.

I don't know the daughter. And not sure what the mother's next step should be. The mother is asking me what I think she can/should do to support her daughter and to ensure that the (offending) teacher is appropriately dealt with.

The daughter was not touched or physically harmed. She thinks the teacher may not have even seen her or known that she was in the room as his back was towards her at the time of the incident.

Any ideas and/or suggestions that I can share with the mother??

The Elders are Coming Help!

so the elders keep bugging me and pestering me about having a meeting with them to "introduce me to my new congregation" for some reason (do any ex elders know what that even means??).

i keep postponing and making excuses and they are getting more and more aggressive.

i finally agreed for them to come over today, but really don't want to..should i hide from them again?

Nothing like waiting til the last minute to ask for help...!

Generally, the best thing to if you are trying to fade, is keep them at bay. There are kind ways to tell them, "Thanks, but no thanks. Not at this time. Thank you for your interest. I have your number and will phone you if I feel I need assistance [from you]."

But since you have already committed, my best suggestion is to leave them a phone message stating that something has come up and you are unavailable to meet. Then go treat yourself to dinner and a movie in a town where they don't live. Come home after 10pm pour yourself a little glass of wine or cup of tea and go to bed.

It's a much better use of your time.

WBTSofA Submission 10.2: "...Unfortunately, those assisting the Commission appear to have misunderstood the relevant Jehovah’s Witnesses’ documents, which would not be the case with congregation elders who understand and implement the direction contained in the documents with the support of the Service Department."

LOL The bold part made me laugh.

The commission did such an awesome job of capturing the context and subtext of the relevant documents. To claim that there was a misunderstanding is laughable.

Besides that, when dealing with something as dire as child sexual abuse, the directions should be incredibly CLEAR - with no room for ambiguity or misunderstanding.

If the documents were 'misunderstood', really, who is to blame here? The author(s) or the educated reader?

There was an xjw poster here who converted to catholicism. I remembering him talking about his faith and his conversion experience. Unfortunately, I cannot remember his name now.
