My nephew happens to be the 'young gun' lawyer (bought and paid for by the wtbs) who was and still is assigned to attend 'human rights' type conferences world wide. Most of these conferences are sponsored or hosted by the UN or some religous body.
Not much real back bone left in staunch 'fight em till hell freezes over' attitude that Rutherford and Franz tried to instill. They have become fat and lazy.......

i can't give more details at this stage as to the procedure due to confidentiality but i can assure you it is going to be dangerous!
mrs ozzie said that it had to be done despite the risk.. so if all of us here could take a moment tomorrow and send positive thoughts.

They are very keen to accept every demonic sighting, table lifting, chair moving... ghost story, or 'debil made me do it' expression that any cookoo throws up in the air....yet have the audacity to say that the great JAH does not need to bless them with even the slightest physical manifestation of his backing of thier prolific prophecies, but simply allows things to happen INVISIBLY.

'The boys in the writing dept' are steeped in the tradition of fortune telling. Every administration since Charles Taze has had it's cause celeb.
Taze was mesmermized by the 'second coming', Rutherford was obsessed with Christendom, Knorr was a stuffed shirt that let Freddy spell out Jehovah's own thinking on things, Knorr serving as the major 'prick' enforcer of all the talmud like policy he could muster. Not to mention his love of dressing down anyone he presumed was not living up to his standard.
After Franz was gone the poor dubs had no one to shore them up, to boost thier spirits. Instead they had to watch every single promise veiled or outspoken fall by the wayside. 1914 was huge, Babylon the Great, the 'great tribulation', 6000 yrs of mans exsistance.
God what a pitiful record they have!
Heaven forbid the day they actually call something right. They would be beside themselves for another 120yrs, never letting anyone forget about it.

Ever since the wtbs lost Freddy......they have been floundering in the wind as respects down and dirty fortune telling. Freddy just had a way with words, he summoned up more paranoia and fear amongst the r&f than any other, well with the exception of da judge maybe.
Jeez if these people would just go back and read some of the crap he wrote, maybe they would wake up.....pipe dream I know.

i find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.
do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?
with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?
I also remember the talks counting down the # of months until Oct '75
The Kingdom Ministry was blatant about that. I can remember conducting 15 or 20min service meeting parts that actually counted down the months.
Any active jw worth his salt in those days knew the signifigance of the year 1975...no ifs, ands, or buts. It was a given we were witnessing the closing hours of this 'system of things'.
What we were really witnessing was the crazy visions, and sooth sayings of a little pip squeak of a man Freddy Franz. A man that should be villified and reviled, even in death, for his egomanical rantings that caused millions to suffer for nothing more than a silly whim, or string of Bible verses he tied together.

I think maybe you read me wrong.
The tribal god Jehovah seemed to have an inordinate interest in sacrifices of all kinds. Abel's considered better than Cain's.......fatted cows, sheep, you name it Jehovah usually wanted blood and lots of it.
He (Jehovah) changes his interests in sacrifices, as the years pass,based upon who is designated 'High Priest' ('governing body, faithful and discreet slave', 'spirit annointed') they simply tell everyone just what sacrifices are now acceptable to YHWH. Funny how that whole thing works eh?
Current highest of the those able to walk into the' holy of holies' the sacrosanct, august body of elders, known as the Governing Body....tell jw's that the only acceptable sacrifice to Jehovah is maintaining your average 15min to 10hours or more in door to door work.
Sounds easy enough. Accept those self agrondizing old geezer's who rarely walk door to door themselves.....fail to tell the rank and file that this sacrifice involves their entire lives and those of their loved ones. 3rd 4th and now working on 5th generation of lives offered on the sacrificial alter of a multi million dollar publishing company.
Somehow sacrifices a lamb seems more acceptable to me.

Past discussions relating to the Bible probably influenced my jumping to conclusions.
Like Gumbastard, I have little tolerance left for any suggestion that the Bible is the actual 'word of God'. As a jw I wasted tens of thousands of hours disecting-parsing its words. To what avail? Benefiting a huge publishing house to meet its sales targets.

The trouble with LT's and others who tend to want to explain away such 'Biblical' accounts......is that it most assuredly muddies the water for believers who want desperately to accept the Bible as a direct communication from the creator.
Gumby has made a concerted effort at pointing to many of these 'Biblical' accounts that leave more questions in the mind than answers.
So when I see attempts to explain away, clear and forthright expressions, directly quoted from scripture........IT SMACKs and SMELLS just like GB hogwash.
God should be able to write a clear and concise sentance, that leaves little to ones imagination or interpretation. If anyone should be able to conjure up prose and poetry to knock your socks off........it should be the guy who invented the whole concept.
I mean if your gonna enter the brain waves of John on the Isle of Patmos.....at least have his inspirational Revelation out in the open air...with plenty of witnesses that could attest to John's abstaining from the local Patmos 'whacky weed'. Think that might of added a little more credibility to a work conjured up in some fire scorched cave?
