H e l l o Uncle!
My my, (excuse me new friends) what a pleasure to see you here
Now that 'Shoom'(?) taught me to use the 'happy faces' Iam like a child playing with new toys.
Like Englishman says--this place is alot of fun. I even met an old friend 'Amicus' from a congregation attended back in the early 70's. We used to sing kingdom songs in harmony. I have felt a warmth and caring for one another here, that is refreshing to be a part of.
I applaud Simon's community, now that you are here...well you know what I mean.

this forum seems to be a friendly group, not to mention i see jt, englishman, focus, waiting and few others that are very familiar to me from h20.. i live in california.
i was raised as a jw (third generation), got the unceremonious 'boot'(df)in 1980-81 been so long..i can't remember the actual date.
Mornin Thinker's Wife,
Apparently there was such rankor and jealousy floating around Bethel in those days, that accusations of gun threats and physical harm were being strewn around.
As you may have already read on the net, da Judge was no teetotaler, in fact he illegaly made his own wine and beer during the US Prohabition. Of course he was not even the remotest interested in 'paying Ceasar's things to Ceaser', but blatantly got others of the Bethel family to join him in breaking the law, including my own parents. Not so bad....hey that was the law of the land....this was 'Gods chosen representive'....go figure.]:)
Regards,
DannyBear

Larc,
I can remember alot of animosity between Bonnie Boyd and my parents. There was alot of in-house politics and weird goings on in Bethel in the late 30's and early 40's. The judge was acting like a crazy man, with all the Moyle uproar...this all seemed very upsetting to my folks. They never really talked much about all the details of what happened...I only have bits and pieces as to what actually transpired.
All I know is that...what JF Rutherford got away with as the sacrosanct President of the WTBS....is far beyond what the Society or any of its supporter's in the know, will ever confess to. He was not a very pleasant man.
People have simply just given up their lives to this man-inspired religion...never really seeing how corrupt and vile...the whole big LIE really is. Blinders are standard issure to all who remain in its tentacles.

i have swapped to my normal profile.
eyesonthepies was a play on the name chosen by some young kid, wannabe elder, on witnet and who now moderates on wol.
eotprize or sonic is probably a lot like me when i was his age...except i never thought that disney cartoon films were absolutely wonderful after i was 12.. i met simon, the board ownwer, on randy watter's board last year.
Thirdson,
Welcome to you. I have just recently joined the community, as well. Always enjoyed reading your posts over there....

someone told me this was a great non prejudice book by this man raymond...who apparently worked with them and wrote alot of their.
books, but was kicked out for not believing in the way they did.

Neyank,
You can say that again. Poor Fred Hall never has read either of them. He is so loyal to his mommy, that anything even remotely critical, get his ire up. Fred Hall and millions like him, keep the WTBS going strong.
***As far as those that are afraid to read those books, ask yourselves why.
Why is an orginization afraid of those books? Why has the WTS told their followers not to read them?
What are they afraid of if they indeed have the truth?***
No matter how a loyal Jdub answers your question ie: 'not sprititualy upbuilding'...'eating at the table of demons'...'not faith building'..you name it, they in their heart of hearts are desperate to know what those books contain. Reminds of the old Plantation owner's who desired to keep their 'slaves' in line. Teaching a slave to read and write was unheard of. Can't read can't form any independent thoughts or plans. WTBS keeps the entire brotherhood enslaved via this ridiculous 'ban' on reading anything other than Watchtower drivel. Is it any wonder that Fred Hall's flourish?
Ray Franz is so far from being hatefull it isn't even funny. One of the most unbiased and reasoned expose's I have ever read.

Waiting,
LOL about h20 members not learning yet to give the fast zinger's! I think the layout of coolboard just doesn't allow for all the notorious bickering....hell maybe they will end up with a board like DFJ. No Farkel would never stand for it. CO coming for a visit? I think perhaps many a CO and DO if not a GB member has made a visit or two, to all of the active JW boards...what ya think?
Shelby is a rabid, bible thumping, evangelical, fundy....who has irratated almost everyone at H20...she is so fanatical, that she trys to changing her screen name to slide a little more preaching in. She was banned for 30 days not to long ago. Once you get her to shed her preaching suit..she is a delightful lady....showed herself to be big hearted toward someone in need. I have to give her credit for 'walking the walk'. Once she knows you are not a potential convert, she will leave you alone. BTW she does have a great sense of humor...and can quip with the best.
Thanks for welcome here Waiting.

Larc,
My mother was Judge Rutherford's cook and housekeeper in his Staten Island home and a member to the Bethel family...my dad was the chief engineer of the WTBS radio station WBBR and the judge's personal chauffer-driving one of the judge's 16 cylinder Cadillacs. So they were one of the few who (in those days taboo) met while in Bethel service...in fact my oldest sister, was the only baby ever born to an active Bethelite..as far as I know. The Judge could play favorites when he wanted.
When they left Bethel shortly before the Judge died....I assume they really had had enough of the egomaniacal tyrant...which he most certainly was. They moved to L.A.
Your mother's aunt could probably have told many a good story about the Rutherfraud. Can you share any of her experiences?
