The Poor JW Children

the children.

there are many things that could be changed, and even though i would never go back, i think there are some very basic changes they could make in their child rearing practices, simple changes that would make a big difference in their society.. 1. don't force small children to sit for two hours in a chair.. this was discussed at length on the thread about slapping children at the kingdom hall.. 2. don't bring children to meetings where the subject has to do with adult sexual practices.. 3. don't tell teenagers that they can't ask someone out for a date unless marriage is on their mind.. 4. don't tell them that they are not special, that they have to humble themselves and be like everyone else.. 5. don't tell them they have to get good grades through high school as a reflection of what jehovah has given them and then tell them they can't go to college when they graduate from high school at the top of their class.. 6. don't tell your wordly neighbors that you give your children presents all through the year, but not on their birthday, when they have never seen a special gift wrapped present in their life.. 7. don't expect a shy child to enjoy going from door to door and don't expect an extroverted, lively child to sit still at meetings.. 8. don't tell an inquiring child not to ask questions and don't tell them not to read interesting books.. 9. don't surprised if you don't change your ways that your children will leave you, even though they love you.

These questions beg for answers from the GB. They are responsible for the critical condition of Jw youth.

They just proceed on with their proclomations, rules, and policies...ignoring the true state of affairs regarding the youth. For a religion that touts itself as the only one 'with love among themselves'....they fall off the charts as to scoring highly in this arena.

Do they offer activities for the youth (other than 5 boring meetings a week), do they encourage the youth to associate with one another? Thus sayeth the GB(parties, dancing, music all suspect) 'all that is
required is more hours spent in 'field service'. Bah Humbug, yes indeedy that is what every teenager just idolizes...a day out selling magazines that they know, nobody ever reads. Not to mention the pure humiliation of being observed by their peers doing so. What a CROCK.

You got out in time larc, you may well have saved your children untold misery and depression. I wish that my own daughter's could have been extracted from the religion, in time to save them from all the anxiety, guilt and refuse they now are obliged to carry....

The WTBS deserves no quarter on this issue. They have ruined so many young lives it is pathetic.

when viv mouritz , former branch coordinator in australia, addressed the special meeting of sydney and surrounding area congregations at the superdome last weekend, he blamed the young witnesses who were leaving "the truth" for the drop in numbers in australia.. at the service meeting this week in one sydney congregation it was announced by a bethel elder that the elders have been told (as if they didn't know already!

) that 2,000 have left "the truth" in the past two years in australia.

this typical congregation of 120 publishers has lost 19 inactive since 1999.. the march 2001 issue of kingdom ministry (australian edition) gives the number of publishers for december as 58,426, pioneers 3,315 and 19 baptized.. in dec '98 there were 58,706 pubs,and in dec '99 there were 58,000.. with 1,600-1,800 being baptized each year, there is indeeed a 2,000 shortfall.. so, who's to blame?

i had an immediate revulsion and concluded this was not appropriate, letting the poster know my thoughts.

other's on the forum did not see it as i did.

No offence taken. Please consider this though: Can one question the motives of someone that leaves the conversation(where the inaccuracy was stated) scurries down the road, yells at the top of his voice that that so and so (DannyBear) is a liar, liar. Addressing the entire community, some probably accepting his word for it, others wanting to know more about it. In my oppinion this person was out to smear my name, that was it....he could care less about the fact I made an error. God forbid anyone scrolling through reading posts attributes one statement to the wrong poster! Give me a break.

One of the reasons I like this forum so much, is the fact that people here are not 'topic' crazy. Topics are not thrown up for every whim of thought. I myself try to limit how many topics I start. So for this guy to do what he did, is indicative of his motives.

Now as the topic at hand[:)}

You, RHW were very specific about what being openminded really means, I agree. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for getting the gist of what I was asking.

Thinking in black and white no longer holds any interest to me. Did way to much of that in the org. Jw's are masters at passing quick assessment of someone's worth or value.

This fellow Xandit a fine jw example, posting a correction to me on a new thread...calling me a liar. I don't know him (although I think I may have a pretty good idea now) and had to stop and think where and to whom I made a comment. It was Ozzie's post on 'who is to blame?' I commented to you larc about having success with Xandit convincing him as regards Jw's being a cult. I went back and reread LDH's thread where the discussion with Xandit took place, couldn't find any reference at all to Xandit's admission...so he is right Iam a liar. But what struck me, was his need to shout it out...instead of just responding to my assertion right where it happened. I decided not to give him the satisfaction of a reply....at least not in a new topic format...very proud of himself. Alright already Iam senile and I made a mistake...hang me up by my toenails...cast aspertions...throw tomatoes.

Recently on another forum, someone posted a cartoon depicting the character urinating on the Bible. I had an immediate revulsion and concluded this was not appropriate, letting the poster know my thoughts. Other's on the forum did not see it as I did. In fact they were very much in support of this posting, as an issue of freedom of thought-expression. These opposing views were made by individuals that I hold in high respect.

Since this incident, I have been going over in my mind whether my reaction was in fact openminded or seriously overly judgemental.

Iam not looking for agreement or backing for the stand I took...but really want to hear, how you folks deal with issues like this.

Are you more openminded, since leaving the cult? Or have you become less tolerant, of those who try to force their conscience and freedom's on you?

The Heresy thread was hilarious...you and thinker were on a roll. We need some new sermon's brother larc, our spirituality is at stake. Not to mention our pant/dress sizes. So please consider putting together a rivival meeting...soon. Being that you hold such a auspicious and grandiose title, would you please inform the other members of Tower Lean Governess of Bodies about this great need among the breathern? Say Ahemen brother.

Like most corporations today (save Japanese) the WTBS is more interested in counting profits (converts) than helping them with long term goals (coping with life as it really is). Maybe thats why JW's are finding it hard to win Japanese converts, they have always taken a long term approach to both business and cultural matters. Stop the presses and stop the madness, as another poster once pleaded.

Wasn't real thrilled when I attained 40...now that you say 60 ain't so bad....maybe I will give myself 10yrs to get there. Aussieland here we come, ready or not.

As to Bossy Ozzie...I was trying to be poetic...so reached for the first thing that came to mind. Silly talk etc etc.

Think maybe this 'body and spirit' thing goes way deeper than we know?
Almost like zombies, they perform their theocratic duties, doing so out of fear. Can they even remotely think their children buy into this senario? I think children decern very early...it is all a big show...a production that everyone has an assinged part in. Young Jw men, realize this and start reaching out for more power and authority. Young jw women, have only one task...find as 'powerful' a mate as possible....and quickly...before he is gone.

Bankrupt from pure motivations, they perform, without true love or charity. It is to satisfy the insatiable Org....and keep their 'blood thirsty' god appeased.

It is enough to drive any half-way sane youngster...to escape for their lives!

Mornin Latte,

Your rantings are nothing to be appologizing for. They strike at the core of JW error.

Most all of the 'concepts'(not devine inspiration) of a parasdise earth, loving creator, pure and clean brotherhood, love of neighbor, et al....are each desirable. They had a drawing effect on people when CT Russell started preaching them in the late 1800's.

Instead of just sticking to Bible commentary on these positive things, Rutherford and those that followed.....expanded and defined talmud like rules; No Christmas, No Birthdays, No Blood, No No No....

Then to top it off, they were not satifisfied with pure charity of ones time and means to 'spread this good news'....they started to demand a quota of hours spent doing so, creating a hiearchy of self important men, to manage and account for recording the progress of every single individual 'publisher'.

To me it is this overt concern for monitoring each others outward (field service) appearance of godliness, that has created the atmosphere that you describe.

Take away all the record keeping, all the quotas, most of the unloving and judgementalisim, that pervades WTdom today....would fade away.

It is very sad that so many are duped into this mindset of 'works' as the only valid method of approaching their 'god'. So happy that their god is not mine anymore.
