  i don't think i am an apostate, but do feel like one for being on these boards as we were always warned not to at the meetings etc.. i disagree with so many things they teach, the main thing is the blood issue....being a new auntie, i love my niece soooo much and if i were the only person that could save her, how on earth could i not?

  i'd be blood guilty for not saving her!!!!!

  that in my books, would be murder.. however, may be it's because i've only been away from the mtgs for a year, but i still think of it most days and although i feel i've made the right decision as nothing was making me happy in it, and obvioulsy my ex beating me and getting away with it.....i still feel a certain pull towards it and a kind of insane loyalty???.

  APOSTATE - Its just a tag that JW`s have made up, which gives the red flag to the JW mind that they must at all costs avoid conversation with such a person. It is very, very effective in making JW`s stick their head in the sand and not listen to any legitimate criticism of the religion.

  Its the same sort of tag as 'in good standing', 'weak', 'spiritually low', 'elder', 'pioneer', 'disfellowshipped'. These tags immediately flag up in the JW mind some sort of impression of the person. The tags make a person decide within an instant, how they shall treat a person.

  I refuse to recognise any of their labels. I simply agreed with their religion at one stage in my life, but time passed and as my life circumstances changed, I disagreed with it. Simple really. Whatever that makes me, in their view, doesnt really interest me.

  It is interesting, however, to see how I have been discussed and tagged in various circles, then treated differently by many of them because some have tagged me this way and others have tagged me that way.

  Quite sad that they disregard a persons opinion based on a tag or label.

  Very effective mind control though.

  This is totally outrageous. If I were still in though, I wonder what I would do?

  If people dont just tell them to GTF over this BS then IMO it is the thin end of the wedge toward complete and utter life/mind control.

  does a jw upbringing simply confuse a child or is it really damaging?.

  i have no doubt that a jw child is, at least, confused with life.

  in my own case my wife brings up my 2 children (aged 5 & 2) as jw`s.

  Firstly, I must say thank you for your input. These experiences and your advice are extreemly helpful to me. It was probobly dificult for many of you to recount some stuff. It really is appreciated. Thank you.

  I guess I am pretty confident and reassured about the way I will take this situation. My children are still very young but cleary, they are very switched on and intelligent (im biased ).

  One family friend told me not to sell myself short when it comes to thinking about the final outcome. In other words, I have too much going for me to be overly concerned about a negative outcome. This came as a bit of a big concept to digest, considering the massive 'put downs' you receive as a JW. Still, it is very true.

  I only hope I am around to keep on influencing the situation. I get very worried about premature death and the effects of perhaps another man coming into my kids lives. Even worse a JW career climber, @ss hole, JW man. I suppose I should give up worrying and get living as someone said recently.

  This thread has been great therapy for me and once again I thank you all very much. As I have said before in another thread, I dont know where I would be if I never had this site in the last year or so.

  Times have changed. If whole countries can change and whole regimes can fall and customs can end and the world around the JW's can grow up..why oh why can't they? It is not so damn hard to say...We were wrong. We like anyone else do not have all the answers, but we do strive to serve God the best we can, we have a lot of healing to do, and we will provide the best resourses we can to do this.

  There is more chance of John Barr taking down his trousers at morning worship and licking his own @rse, whilst showing off a madonna tattoo emplazoned on his plodder, than the above happening.

  Does a JW upbringing simply confuse a child or is it really damaging?

  I have no doubt that a JW child is, at least, confused with life. In my own case my wife brings up my 2 children (aged 5 & 2) AS JW`s. She is not a crackpot JW, in fact she is fairly balanced. However, with me out of the org and quite against the religion, I believe that my children must be at least confused about the situation. As they grow older and they are taught about the death of their father and mostly non JW family, this is bound to confuse them. Also, not partaking in xmas, birthdays etc.

  But, more seriously, I want to know how many of you think that a JW upbringing is in fact damaging to a childs mind and general wellbeing.

  It alarms me that they are sitting at meetings being exposed to some of the doctrines, over and over again. They will be taking it all in. What effect does this have on children through the years. Is it maybe the case that I can be the balancing act in it all and that everything will be ok?

  I have left the initial bitterness of being decieved by the religion but this is now a major concern to me. I do not want my childrens minds being screwed up with this stuff and dont really know how to handle it or what to do.

  Thanks if you can contribute from what you know or your personal experiences.

  nu 31:17-18 moses, following the lord's command, orders the israelites to kill all the midianite male children and "... every woman who has known man ...." (note: how would it be determined which women had known men?

  one can only speculate.

  dt 21:10-13 with the lord's approval, the israelites are allowed to take "beautiful women" from the enemy camp to be their captive wives.

  Major Clean Up After The Big A?

  one of the more shocking things i've come across on this forum is that supposedly it'll be our responsibility to clean up the mess armagedon made and make the world a paradise during the 1000 year reign (jw's belive in the 1000 year reign, then the final judgement and destruction of satan right?

  my doctrine is a little fuzzy).

  this is new to me, has it appeared anywhere in the literature, talks, or the bible?

  This was one of the reasons that I walked away too. I though too deeply about it, I was told. Anyway, their dispicable belief has been nicely exposed in this thread. Anyone who believes it, is seriously, mentally impaired IMO.

  nothing really to do with jwism but who prefers the american 'bourbon' type such as 'wild turkey', 'jim beam' etc or who prefers a fine single malt scotch such as 'glenfiddich' or 'glenmorangie'?

  hey all, hope you are all well.

  well my little man is 5 and we had his birthday party on the weekend, our house was full with 40 people, and the backyard was filled with a jumping castle, we had helium balloon all over the house, it was awesome.. i cooked for three days straight and man was i tired by the end of the day, but it was great, i so wished i had of had the chance to celebrate bdays when i was a kid.. anyway heres the online album for you to look at.
