Are only Christians of good morals ?

this thread is prompted by the direction my other thread took, the one about "where was god...".

on that thread lwt posted a quote from ann coulter about how superior were christians because they don't kill babies (abortion) they don't kill old people (euthanasia) and they don't do this or that.. it is the same attitude that seems to permeate the "christian" sects, we have everything right and only we are moral.

( of course this attitude is extreme in the cults, like the jw's/wt where all "worldly" people are in thrall to satan).

Who made the 1st step into the 'genital' area?

Why Do Some Elders Go After "Faded Ones" While Others Leave Us Alone?

so far, no one has really bothered me.

i always wonder why.

then i read of how some are always getting calls and visits.

After a few months of calls & unannounced visits I have not been hounded by the elders in my cong. I know that other elders in other halls have wanted me 'dealt with.'

I offered to explain all my reservations & reasons immediately after I left the org. They realised I was a lost cause I think.

If I was hounded then I would have certainly sat down & explained. It would have led to me being d/f'd.

I can't say that I'm bothered either way.

They can keep their inner politics & shove it right up their arse.

during the dark days of the second world war , the monsters that ran a concentration camp decided to hang a child.. they hung the poor little chap so that it took half an hour for him to die, all the while making the other inmates look into the face of the child.. where was your god then ?

was he not strong enough to do anything or did he just not care ?.

if the first then he is a very weak god, if the second then,.

When I look into my childrens eyes and see their utter reliance on me to provide food & shelter but above all that, love, it almost tears me apart. They crave my care, attention & loving kindess. All they want is me & their mother. Their family. They are vulnerable wee souls & as parents we try to do everything we can to make them feel loved & secure.

I haven't felt any care from 'god' in my life. And I've had it particularly easy in comparison to many, many people who have been the victims of terrible circumstances.

The fact is that god has been nowhere for anyone, unless you are so selfishly inclined to believe that you are so important that god 'chose' you to come under his care. In that case (and I'm trying not to be patronising here), you will believe anything.

Good luck with it.

I prefer to deal with reality & fact.

Today marks the 4th anniversary of my leaving the Jehovahs Witness religion

four years ago today i walked out of the kingdon hall at 12.30pm knowing it would be the last time i would ever do so.. i haven't been back or considered going back since.. life in a divided family is a rocky road.. showing jehovahs witnesses that you can lead a fulfilling, happy life outside the circus that is their religion has been met (sadly) with opposition, slander & all the most bitter feelings that can ever come up into the heart of a person that practises the religion.. it's been worth it though.. freedom of thought & expression mean everything to me.. now my children are learning the same.

the religion has virtually no hold on them now.. life is good.

it is also short.

Religion has no answer to such a question.

Considering the evil that has been carried out on millions of children makes me so sad & angry.

A loving parent (should he exist) would never allow such horrendous things to happen. And if he does exist & justifies the permission of such perverted evil then I personally don't want to know him.

If god exists then he is a child abuser/paedophile enabler.

Why Would Someone Like me Leave the "Truth"? Part 2

as stated in part 1 the latter part of the 1980s and 1990s were very good for my wife and i. we are doing well spiritually and both had good jobs.

our increasing income allowed us to move at a relatively young age to a nice area.

we wanted to stay in our old congregation but i was told as an appointed man i should support the congregation in my new territory.. this new congregation had a completely different feel about it to our old one.

I also had a brother Neilson in my cong. He was a complete arsehole & was instrumental in my eventual feelings regarding 'appointment by holy spirit'.

My only regret is not addressing his problems with him personally. I would have loved to have told him exactly what the cong thought of him.

In the end I would have liked to have told him to "f**k off" to his face.

Looking forward to your next part.

after the public talk and after the tms.

in fact there would often be a mass exdous out of the door.

When we had no children I would sit through the whole lot & then 'take care of my responsibilities'

When we had 1 & then 2 children 'taking care of my responsibilities' bacame extreemly tiring. No-one wanted to help me out.

Eventually, the work load took it's toll (among other matters) & I just walked out of the hall, never to return again.

PS - we had some awful speakers. At times, even when just my wfe & I, we wanted to scream. You just wanted a beer, a bowl of crisps & the TV.
