my hubby and i decided it is time to sell our little starter home and buy something a bit bigger.
one reason we are doing this now is that my sister who is developementally delayed and lives in ny needs a new place to stay.
Lovelylil, I wish you, your husband, and your sister the best. Take care, and let us know how everything goes.

i was just introduced to a new flick and thought that you might want to check it out.
i'll not give any review as i don't want to sway your interpretation.
i will say that i found it interesting and could be appropriate based on some postings i've read here.
The film has been discredited. Made by followers of money grubbing cult leader J. Z Knight who channels a long dead warrior from Atlantis called Ramtha.
This is the one thing that really disappointed me about this film. I think puting J.Z. Knight in this film seriously discredited all of the other people in the film simply by association. The other people in the film who presented scientific research and thoughts on spirituality are [ I believe ] sensible and have published some very interesting and credible work. ( Dr. Miceal Ledwith, Fred Alan Wolfe, and Dr. Joe Dispenza ) Putting a self-proclaimed channeler who channels some ancient guru from Atlantis makes everybody involved in the film look like hucksters.
i really thought this was poignant.. .
written by an australian dentist....and too good to delete..... .
to kill an american.
What Do Canadians Have To Boast About?
Cheese soup and the Toronto Blue Jays.
i have been one of jehovah's witnesses for about 9 years before i became inactive.
i just had some comments i'd like to make.. i think the reason why i'm inactive now is because i've come to a point in my life where i feel obligated to admit that i just don't know.
at one time i was as fiery and zealous of a witness as anyone could be but i had this nagging feeling that i really didn't know what i was talking about when i was witnessing to people.
keo,
There was something I left out. I thought your post was really good. I really like how you were able to express you disagreement with various viewpoints in a calm, rational, and mature manner. Every single one of us on this site gets "shot down" or ridiculed at one time or another. Don't take it personally, It just comes with the territory. Don't let it manipulate you or cause you to quit posting. Just roll with the punches, take it in stride, and show a sense of humor in all of it. I think you'll be glad that you stuck around.
i mean - what kind of doctrine would they teach - what sort of social programs would they support - how big?
how small?
preacherman or preacherwoman?
One that elevates LOVE as the most important thing over HEAD KNOWLEDGE. One that does not judge anyone for any reason because they recognize that no one in this world is perfect and everyone is entitled to a bad day once in a while. Lilly
Lilly, you put that beautifully. That too (putting love above head knowledge) was something I've always longed for.
i understand there are active elders and ministerial servants on these boards.
if a witness spoke with you in private about doubts/questions they have about wts doctrine or the like, would you encourage that person to continue investigating?
what if that witness outright declared the organization as a wicked or not directed by god?.
if you express your doubts about Jehovah and his dealings, they will be understanding and remind you that it is ok, but the 11th commandment is to never judge the governing body, the penalty is to quickly remove you because of apostasy.
A very astute observation. Also, a very true statement.

I'm not saying that I doubt Witness beliefs only, it's everything of a spiritual nature. There simply is no way to prove the Bible is what it says it is. In fact a lot of it seems to come from earlier religions.
These were observations that I began to make when researching the Old Testament. Two of the most enlightening books that I have read are "Who Wrote The Bible" by Richard Elliott Friedman and "Secret Origins Of the Bible" by Tim Callahan. There are indeed several accounts in the Old Testament that originated from earlier religious mythology. This is actually old news. Many Bible scholars all over the world have realized this for centuries. (see Friedman's book)
The Watchtower Society has often attempted to demonize people who don't believe in Biblical literalism or "inerrancy" as people who are anti-Christian, anti-Bible, or who are arrogant atheists. (They attempted to do this in their book "The Bible God's Word or Man's ) But the truth is, there are many respected Christian scholars and devotees who are willing to admit the fact that some of the Old Testament is indeed literary, and not literal historical accounts (Samson, Noah and the flood, Tower of Babel). This does not make them anti-Christian, or anti-Bible; it just means that they have a level of intellectual honesty that others are not willing to exercise.
what if the watchtower announced that they are not god's sole channel of spiritual truth?
along with this admission, would come an apology for all of the misleading and damaging predictions and past teachings.
what if they also dumped the disfellowshipping arrangement, as currently practiced, and allowed for respectful disagreement and disent, on issues such as blood transfusions and military service?
I would under one condition . . . . . . . .
If they would allow me to make a pinata of J.F. Rutheford and beat it at the next Sunday meeting.
lets say that armageddon was imminent and you would deduce that you wouldn't be saved, who would you want to be with to enjoy your last moments alive?
Alone on the toilet like I am usually when there is an earthquake
Yeah, but who would you like to have sitting on the toilet with you?
go on, tell us who you love on jwd, and why.
(reminder: love can be totally platonic.
platonic: transcending physical lust or desire)..
I love Stealth, he always cracks me up (especially the picture of him in a diaper)
I love ithinkisee' s avatar as well. That picture is the greatest.
There are actually several others as well, but I just can't remember their aliases.
