  God Changed his mind?

  so i was at my really good friends place, he is a jw, im not.

  i was trying to ask him if jw's are prophets of god.

  he came back and asked me what im trying to get at etc etc.

  Yes, this is a good point. It is in the book of Matthew, as plain as day. Jesus said that it would come as a "thief in the night". Yet, Russell went ahead and predicted 1914 anyway. J.F. Rutheford took it upon himself to predict the years 1918, 1925, and when WWII broke out, that it would arrive within a couple of years. (I won't even go into 1975) So, if one used the rediculous logic that your friend is trying to use, one would have to conclude that these really were true prophicies, and that Jehovah God changed his mind, and decided not to bring the big A on these four seperate occasions because of various turning points in world events.

  Either a very fickle God, or some very stupid men. I will vote for the latter.

  do you believe in the stars?

  obviously not the real stars everyone believes they're there!.

  but ive been interested in everything i couldnt be as a jw, ghosts ghouls, been to a wicker thing with sirona , had a physic reading etc.

  and ive just got a kit on how the stars influence your life and how you can do a birth chjart or something, but i dont understand it, and just wondered if anyof you guys are into it and can explain it to me?.

  The JW organization could be the best for finding women !!!!

  i was at bethel not long ago.

  and other then the hypocrisy i saw the most beautifull women in the world all in one place.

  bethel makes the miss universe pagent look silly.did i mention these women are from all over the world, bethelites can stay in other countries for cheap because they can stay in assembly halls.

  Get connections Get the woman of your dreams, And stay there untill you find a good job then leave. It will make the pain a lot easier to deal with if you at least take advantage of what an organization has to offer, Instead of just being taken advantage of and just leaveing with nothing like I did.

  My goodness.

  I don't know about you, but I have no intentions of marrying someone who evaluates a man's spiritual and moral character based upon what kind of "theocratic title" he has or how many hours he puts in service.

  I would much rather marry a "plain-Jane" type of girl who loves me for who I am deep down inside, and not based upon some superficial and rediculous spiritual check-list that's printed in a Watchtower.

  Kingdom Hall Experiences

  When I was teenager, we attended a Kingdom Hall that was really close to a major airport. On cloudy, or rainy nights, when planes have to circle around at low altitudes, you could hear the occasional loud roar of a airliner. Sometimes, when a brother was in the middle of his talk, he would stop for a few seconds until the plane went by. There was a running joke in our hall, that it was Satan guiding the plane over the Kingdom Hall to disrupt the meeting. (a few actually believed this to be true). I got so sick of hearing that crap. Very few of them stopped to think that the airport was built long before our Kingome Hall was.

  A JW kid that I knew is now in the insane assylum

  i just can't believe all the trouble witness kida are having lately in my area( (vancouver b.c).

  3 years ago a witness kid (18 years old) jumped off a bridge to his death.. the latest news from the jw grapevine is that a jw kid that i knew (he is now 20) is in the insane assylum.

  it seems he was found swimming towards bethel from vancouver (he left a note) this was at least a 1000 miles away and he never would have made it.

  The witnesses causes high pressure to succeed and prove oneself through knowledge this is the path to rightousness right in their eyes. these are large contributions to not only stress but psychological problems that can enhance from stress.

  What is truly amazing to me is the absolute arrogance and the cold indifference of the leadership to these problems. Instead of lightening the load, they continue to push, manipulate, and coerce the members to do more, to continue to produce good stats as if they were distributors for Amway. It's disgusting; the way the WTS continues to use guilt and fear to coeerce the friends. I would love to see this corporate contraption get sued into oblivion.

  Wow, this just brought back a memory from when I was a little kid.

  I remember a public talk where the brother set up a table on stage, with a globe sitting on top of it. It was a talk about "hating the world". During the talk, a couple of times, he would look over at the globe and say: "Ikkkkkkhhhh !" And of course, as if on cue, the audience cackled with humorous delight.

  That was the last time I ever saw that brother. I always wondered what happened to that yokel. I'm guessing that by now, he's probably a writer for the Watchtower magazines. A perfect job fit don't you think?

  What one thing reminds you most of being a Witness?

  the mind is full of all kinds of things that can trigger memories.

  it could be the taste of a certain spice that reminds you of a now passed relative who liked to cook.

  it could be the smell of a perfume or cologne, that reminds you of a lover you once could not live without.

  Everytime I see a nice, stainless steel drinking fountain (just like the ones in KHs)

  Everytime I hear someone mention the years of 1914, 1925, 1935, 1975, or 1994

  When I saw this, it stabbed at me. This is something that I came very close to doing several times when I was a Witness. It is truly amazing that I am still alive today.

  How did Noah round up other life forms such as microscopic dirt mites, amoebas, parasites, and the hundreds of thousands of species of insects (many of which only have a life-span of a few days).

  It's so funny how fundamentalists will acuse evolutionists of making huge leaps of faith, stretching their immaginations, and of intellectual dishonesty in order to try to make their theories work.

  Yet, this doesn't even come close to the rediculous intellectual gymnastics, and wild speculations that fundmentalists will go to in order to make their childish fairytale into a historical account.
