Weird crop circle sighting...

my husbands cousin lives in a small rural area in illinois and over the weekend crop circles appeared in their soybean crop .

i just talked to his cousin , and she is beside herself from all the publicity .

she said the phone started ringing at 6am this morning .

Crop circles have been proven to be the work of hoaxers.
It doesn't mean they are not clever and amazing. Just not ET.

I agree with Simon. The reason why is because of a documentary I saw.

Do any of you in Britain remember a major crop-circle making contest that was hosted by the BBC?

The BBC wanted to see just how good crop-circle hoaxers can be. To give people the incentive to be as elaborate and innovative as possible, they offered a huge cash prize. They put on a contest and made several stipulations: 1) The workers had to work at night within a time limit 2) The workers were not allowed to use any power tools; only manual tools. 3) The workers were not allowed to use any generators for light sources. 4) The workers were not allowed to break or snap any of the crops.

The BBC judges were quite amazed and surprised at what the workers using manual tools were able to accomplish.

Why Did Adam & Eve Need An Immune System???

here is a question i would like answered intelligently if possible.

i asked my wife and another brother during an informal gathering of friends and was given the typical "wait till the new system, jehovah will answer all questions" response.

for the last year or so i began to seriously doubt the existence of a "loving, caring god".

Jehovah God originally designed humans with an immune system to protect them from various germs, parasites, and viruses that would affect animals. Some JWs have speculated that Jehovah intended for viruses and germs to exist to control animal populations (as JWs believe that Jehovah didn't orginally design any animals to be predatory).

This creates several problems. One such problem is that many viruses would have not been able to survive the global flood unless they were hosted inside animals on the ark. However, many such viruses found in mamals are deadly within a matter of days or weeks.

today i was reading some of the posts from this website, and she asked me why do jw call god jehovah and not just god or lord, isn't that like calling your own father by his real name?.

i remember when i was a kid i said lord once and my dad corrected me and said jehovah, why is that?

have to disagree with the use of 'jehovah', there cannot possibly be any true scripts that say call apon 'jehovah' as that wasn't even a word until about 1270 invented by a Catholic monk by the name of Martini. Many, many sites, books, commentaries, etc... about the tetragrammaton.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. I should have said "Yahweh" instead of Jehovah. You actually bring up another good point as to how the spelling "Jehovah" was derived.

Believe it or not, the teaching of evolution would actually bolster the belief in the global flood theory. Why? Consider this:

There are some 250,000 species of beetles worldwide. Is one to really believe that Noah was able to gather all of these different species into the ark? (most of which only live in certain climates, and regions) This is extremely far-fetched; considering the fact that some beetles only have life spans of a matter of days. This means that many species would have had to evolve after the flood.

What about ocean life? If we are to believe that the oceans were much shallower before the flood (as the WTS teaches), then this means that many species in existence today would have never been able to survive back then. This is because their bodies are designed for depth pressures far deeper than what the oceans were back then. That means that these speicies must have evolved their characteristics after the flood.

Of course I don't really believe in the flood. I'm just saying that evolutionary biology might help out the WTS in their rediculous claims that the global flood was real.

The Hebrew scriptures make several references to the patriarchs using God's personal name. They also make reference to "calling on the name of Jehovah" for protection and salvation.

Psalms 83:18 is probably the most popular scripture when it comes to explaining why Gods name should be used and sanctified.

You do make a good point though; and it's something that I have thought about. Why would a father get offended when his son or daughter called him "Daddy" instead of calling him "Todd"?

In Middle Eastern mythology (that pre-dates Genesis) , the serpent was viewed as a creature which had the power to bestow immortality, or to take it away. Tim Callahan is a historian who did a huge amount of research into the Garden of Eden account. It is all chronicled in his book: "Secret Origins of The Bible". It is one of the most fascinating books I have ever read. In it, he explains the following:

* Where the names Adam and Eve came from

* Why the account says that Eve was made from a rib bone

* Why the account says that a flaming sword and angels were stationed at the entrance to the garden.

When all of the mythological elements are revealed, the account actually makes a lot of sense in the context of a literary work.

Iran only has conventional missiles that can reach Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. Iran knows that a conventional missile attack would do minimal damage, and would result in massive bombings by the Israelis. That would mean bye-bye to Iran's nuclear program.

The U.N. bureaucrats probably just snicker in amusement at the WTS. Sort of the way most people view a mentally ill homeless guy who just urinated on himself.
