2. after the destruction of religion, gog and his hordes would attack the watchtower.
so how they can say armageddon is imminent I don't know. The time element to destroy religion would take countless years just as it did when christianity overpowered religion in the first few centuries. Religious zealots will be here forever.

This discussion is going on in another thread right now. There is a lot of speculation flying aroud right now. Some speculate that the major announcement to come in the next couple of months is related to the letter that was recently read telling JWs to prepare for natural disasters and terrorist attacks.
I stated in that thread that the G.B. would have to be nuts to make another prediction like this. Another poster on the thread said that Jesus words were clear and unambiguous: No one knows the hour. Not even the Son.
I seriously do not believe that a prediction is coming. I believe that it is a major internal change in the organization. I know someone who personally spoke with one of the GB members about this. This particular GB member said that "major changes are coming". He said that "many people aren't going to like it, but that it is going to be for the good of the flock". He said that they hope everybody shows obedience. These kinds of statements tell me that it is not a doomsday prediction, but is going to probably some kind of clamp-down on the rank and file.

i was just at my sis for supper...it came up in conversation that when they (her and hubby) were on the last circuit assembly programme - relating an experience - he had to sign a declaration specifying that the experience was true.. i was completely taken aback by this...the irony etc...they were surprised that i was unaware of this.. funnily enough the reason it came up was that in a different talk an experience had been acted out that is almost certainly untrue..given that it happened to a girl who is seeing a psychiatrist for constant lieing...her father had the assembly part and must surely have also had to sign the declaration... had anyone else had to sign such a declaration or know someone who did.

Why the hell, would they make him sign a document? Why not just ask him to make a verbal statement? What's the WTS going to do now; sue people for "False Experiencing"?

my elderly dub aunt (who's the biggest whiner the world has ever seen) came over tonight to first of all, whine about how her neighbour shuts her kitchen cupboard doors in the most annoying way possible and her dog barks and what was she supposed to do about it?
anyway, as soon as these monumental problems were solved, she informed me that at the bookstudy the other night, the conductor told everyone to "stay after the prayer" as he had 'something important to announce.
" naturally everyone did this, all the while wondering if the red phone at patterson was in direct contact with jehovah himself as the study was being conducted.
If it's a change in policy, they why are they concerned about stocking up on food items or gettting everyone's home phone number? You could be right, but food supplies and a policy change don't seem to go hand in hand.......
The stocking up of food was merely recommendations from a letter discussing natural disasters and terrorist attacks (which was probably written because of the events surrounding Katrina). I have never heard anyone tha I know suggest that the natural disaster letter is in any way related to the major announcement later on. The closeness in timing could very well be coincidence.

I totally agree. They would have to be on crack to try to make another end of the world prediction. All indications suggest that it is going to be a major change in policy or some further restrictions placed upon Witnesses. Whatever it is, it's not going to be good.

Yes, there is a major announcement coming. This isn't speculation. Some elders that I know have already said this. (It has nothing to do with the Kingdom News campaign) It is something that the elders already know, but it is not allowed to be announced.
I don't think that it is any kind of "prediction". I think that is going to be some kind of organizational change. According to sources I have, a certain GB member actually said that "major changes" were going to be carried out "for the good of the flock". The GB member said that "many people aren't going to like it", but they hope that everybody shows obedience. These kind of statements are a huge red flag that it is going to be something irrational in an effort to clamp down on people in some way.
We'll all find out soon enough.

Does anybody remember how the Society, many years ago, encouraged us to hide literature around our house? This was suggested, so that when the day comes that we come under ban here in the U.S., that we would have some "spiritual food" left after the authorites confiscated all of our literature?
Yes sir, what timely advice that was! Today, in an age where Al Qaeda cells are popping up all over Western countries, the Department of Homeland Security has made the confiscation all of those Young People Ask books a top priority !

when i was brought up in the 60s and 70s a creative day was definately 7000 years as mentioned on another thread and then it became vague as thousands of years like mentioned in an earlier thread.
well the bright light really is getting brighter all the time.
whereas they used to know exactly how long a creative day was they now have not got a clue .
It never ceases to amaze me how the WTS can continue to arbitrarily pick and choose what they will interpret as literal, and what they will interpret as figurative. Some "days" are interpreted as literal days. Some are interpreted as a year. Some are interpreted as simply long periods of time.
This is very convenient. With a simple stroke of the pen, they can say that certain passages say what they mean, and others mean something other than what they say. To the Watchtower Society, the Bible can be turned into one big Rorschach card to be interpreted however they see fit.
Why bother even puting the doctrines and "current understanding" in print? Just report the doctrines and "current understanding" on a giant electronic board that can be changed the same way stock prices are reported on Wall Street.
