If you heard this headline on the news, would you be frightened?
by free2beme in"visitors from outer space reveal themselves, and make contact".
now, i realize this is something seen on those supermarket tabloids all the times.
what i am saying, is what if it was true and the networks had it on, cnn, foxnews, msnbc, etc.

Bill Clinton on CNN
by sammielee24 inbill clinton interview on cnn about global poverty issues.
i love some of the programs he talked about and showed during the interview - and i like the way he recognizes and puts some value on helping people up - i especially liked the program for the rural farmer where he gets 5 cows to start his farm up and after a specific amount of time, he in turn gives 5 of his now growing herd, on to the next guy to start his farm.
giving people a hand is not giving them a hand out.

Yeah, despite the fact that I didn't agree with Bill Clinton on some issues, I don't understand the "Clinton hating" that went on during the 90's and still goes on today. Many a talk radio host has made his bread and butter off of biting at Bill Clinton's ankles.

As long as their is new light, there is no false religion
by JH in.
if the jw's can receive new light, why can't the catholics or any other religion also receive new light, that would bring them a little bit closer to the truth.. so, if jw's can have new light, why do they call the other religions false?
aren't they also entitled to receive new light somewhere down the line and maybe become even closer to the truth than the jw's are.. as long as a religion can constantly recieve new light, so can others, which means there is no false religion, just religions changing slowly from one belief to another either very slowly, or a little faster..

But we all here have seen enough evidence in this life to know that the above is not a possibility.
Absolutely. And I'm glad that I came to this realization sooner than later.

The Clergy vs. Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Outaservice inafter i left the organization, one of the things that surprised me the most, was the clergy of christendom and their view of jehovah's witnesses.
i thought as a jw, we were the 'center' of their attention, and they not only hated us, but were afraid of all the things we published about them.. nothing could have been farther from the truth!
most ministers hardly knew anything about witnesses.

Oh yes, I'm reminded of how stinging the message was supposed to be for Christendom.
Does anybody remember the famous old cartoon in one of the old Watchtowers of the clergyman getting shot in the ass with arrows as he scampered away in pain? It's funny how the WTS doesn't do that stuff anymore. They look back on that kind of behavior with some mild embarrassment.
I guess they feel more dignified since they no longer print childish cartoons of priests getting shot in the buttocks, but now, they print vivid, colorful illustrations of other churhces and their congregants being obliterated by balls of fire at the Big A.
It's like 40 year-old man who still acts like he's 12.

Simply put, this site has been a Godsend for me. I know that it has been the same for many of you too. I always think that expressing a "Thank-You" to the people who keep it going can never hurt.
So, to all of you people who work on this site in various capacities to keep it running smoothly, I say:
Thank You !
Gracias !
Merci !

Yeah, it does amuse me how the WTS believes in this bizarre conspiracy theory of how all of the clergy are always plotting, planning, and conspiring against them. The clergy are always seeking to thwart the WTS' every move, in the great cosmic battle of good versus evil.
The WTS reminds me of these conspiracy nuts who always talk about the "black helicopters" that are flying around, and spying on them while they are bass fishing.

Is al-Qaeda a front for the borg?
by frozen one ini read al-qaeda has a new message for everyone.
here's the quote:.
"to americans and the rest of christendom we say, either repent (your) misguided ways and enter into the light of truth or keep your poison to yourself and suffer the consequences in this world and the next," gadahn said in english.. that bit about christendom and the light of truth rang familiar.

That bit about Christendom and the light of truth rang familiar. Thought I was reading the daily text for a minute.
Yes, it also sounded eerily similar to one of J.F. Rutheford's diatribes.

Are JW's the only ones
by Honesty inwho go door to door asking for donations when they place their literature?
-
Arthur
I do not know of any other religion besides the Mormons who even go door-to-door at all. It is my understanding that the LDS will give you a copy of the Book of Mormon on a donation basis, but I could be mistaken.

Right now, I do volunteer work to help recovering alcholics and drug addicts. There is a lock down facility for young men who have substance abuse problems close to where I live. I sponsor two guys who have lived in there, helping them to stay clean and sober. I also go to a federal residential facility for prisoners who have just been paroled. I, along with a few others go in there and speak to them about getting clean and sober; and living that way. I have met some really interesting people. It's amazing how many "scary" or "intimidating" looking ex-convicts are actually quite the opposite on the inside. Many of them are people who are just scared and don't know how to function in life.
I have seen absolutely amazing transformations take place in people. I have seen some real "Saul-to-Paul" changes take place in people. To say the least, it has changed how I see the world and many of the people around me.

This is a rational argument to you and I, but to JWs, this argument would never fly. The doctrine of the Faithful and Discreet Slave trumps all of the claims of other religions as to "new light". According the WTS, Christ rejected all other religions of Christendom and chose the Bible Students as his "Faithful Slave" having stewardship over all of his belongings on Earth. The power that the "Faithful Slave" doctrine has over the average JW cannot be underestimated. The WTS insists there is only one Faithful Slave; and that Slave resides in Brooklyn Heights. At this point, all other religions are under the direction of the demons; according to the WTS. However well intentioned any other Christians may be, all of their teachings and strivings are in vain, since they are part of Babylon the Great.
