Things you want to try now that you're not a dub...
by ringo5 ini tried this because i'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie, but i am also a bit afraid if heights(or edges to be more precise)so i wanted to know if i could do it.
.
i did it albeit with more swearing than others there, another perk of ex-dubdom....

ringo5, I think you are certifiably nuts. But, hell, I'm just too chicken to do that myself.
The most adventurous things that I'm willing to do, now that I'm not a dub is watch R-rated movies, buy 2 dollar raffle tickets, and read books by Deepak Chopra.

It is my understanding that all of the movie events that showed the officers while they were trapped under the rubble was based upon the testimony of John McLaughlin and Will Jimeno. I don't think that Jimeno and McLaughlin would have endorsed the movie if this false portrayal of one of their fellow cops was thrown into the film for sensational purposes.

render controversial passages in a way that supports their distinctive beliefs.”
This is pretty funny. When they use the wording "distinctive" beliefs; it is a nice, subtle, politically correct way of saying: "their bullsh*t beliefs".

My brother went on and on about why we cannot rely on psychology/therapists because they are constantly changing their ideas/tecniques. He spent a whole lot of time bad mouthing psychology and then took about 30 seconds to say:
Oh, this is rich. Do these guys have any idea how out of touch they are?
(I just went on a tirade right now and had to delete everything I just wrote. )
It was no offense to your brother sandy; just toward the morons who write those talk outlines. Many of those talks are the most transparent demagoguery that I have ever had the displeasure of hearing. Especially the talks that ridicule psychology. The WTSs rants against psychology are usually a lot of cliches, platitudes, and sloganeering. They are merely pandering to an audience that doesn't know any better; and worse yet, doesn't want to know any better. Talk about noise pollution.

Man, I loved that guy! He was so funny.
I always had a weird feeling that he was going to die sooner or later; if he didn't stop doing some of the things he did.
That's really sad.

Welcome Peaches-N-Cream,
Just joking around in my previous post. I was in a silly mood and found that mugshot off a website. Sorry, I can't post my picture on the site right now, as I am a "fader" and can't let people know I'm on this site. Anyway, welcome to the site!

Did anyone just get tired?
by woodmonkey induring my days as a witness, which was only about 10 years ending circa 1981, most of my memories revolve around how totally exhausted i always felt.
toward the last, i was dragging my family out to the five meetings a week and working fulltime and getting my quota of publisher hours on the little sheet every month, even doing the temporary pioneering bit now and again.
when i had the ministry school, i even worked a four day week to be able to give every talk on the program in case someone did not show up, which frequently happened in our little congregation west of fort worth, tx.

I ran myself and my family into the ground back those many years ago. Anyone else had that experience? Or was I just a wimp?
No, you're not a wimp ! Your experience was very similar to so many people on this site. To say that I got "tired" would be a gross understatement. I actually came dangerously close to committing suicide. When I would read about how Jesus talked about how "his yoke is kindly, and his load is light", I was reminded of the Jews in the first century who where burdened down by the countless burdensome rules of the religious leaders. I soon realized on my own that the WTS was merely a patchwork of first century Judaism, pseudo-Christianity, and cultism. I knew that I would die if I tried to continue to play their games. I only wish I would have left sooner.

Guilt only on "Individual Basis"
by KennyC inscapegoating is a practice of the old mosaic law and one of the influences of lying apostates and judaizers that the apostles fought against in the 1st century.
in ancient judaism there were instances of group sin where their sins were written down and tied to the beast and it would be sent off into the wilderness as a representation of sins being forgotten and gone.
jw's do the same thing with individuals, usually in the form of "apostates" being disfellowshipped.
