  Statistical effect of disassociating the inactive

  it has been tossed around several times on the forum, and invariably someone pipes up that the wts will never do it because of the adverse effects on the numbers.

  there is a glaring flaw in that reasoning.. the inactive are never counted as publishers.

  the numbers that are reported are of active, reporting publishers.. if they disassociate every single person who is inactive and refuses to reactivate themselves, the numbers will not be negatively affected at all.

  Good points AuldSoul. On this one; I agree totally with you. I do think that this is a real possibility. I think that it would spook many inactive ones into compliance.

  I'm curious as to what kind of legal action could possibly be taken. I was thinking that if many people (perhaps thousands in the U.S. alone) were shunned by family; not for wrongdoing, but merely not going to meetings; could some kind of class action lawsuit be filed? This kind of mass shunning would have huge implications. Think of all of the innactive Witnesses who would lose jobs, or suffer other hardships over this kind of enactment. I can't help but wonder if there would be legal implications for the WTS. The negative publicity alone would be very damaging.

  If the UN dissolves...will the WTS recover?

  there is a public groundswell of support within the united states of america, inc. for the us to withdraw from the un.

  while this departing of one-half of the seventh king (and the "king of the south") could be prophetically spun into a harmless twist and twang on an old saw, the general consensus seems to be that the un would have great difficulty maintaining orderliness within its ranks.

  also, there is a strong argument to be made that without us financial backing the un would fold due to a shortage of funding.. although it isn't particularly likely, it is certainly a possibility.

  And a better question is: When the political powers of the world turn on and destroy all religion (except the one TRUE religion), what will the opposers then say?

  From your above statements, I assume that you are still a loyal JW. Am I correct? If so; please tell me something. Why would a loyal JW who obediently follows the directions of the Faithful Slave; blatantly disobey them by communitcating with "apostates" on a site such as this?

  So, doctrine is important to the organization, but unquestioning loyalty is really how they hold people. To me, the folks most likely to leave are ones who really understand the doctrine.

  For the rest, they're happy not understanding everything but they're not willing to make too many sacrifices. Its a tightrope and eventually, they're going to fall off.

  These are very good points. I have noticed throughout my years in the org, that many of the most ardent defenders and apologists for the org are those who really don't understand the deeper doctrines very well; and have no idea how such doctrines were formulated. I fell into this camp. When I actually began to do in depth research into various doctrines (Faithful Slave, etc.) I began to see through the smoke screens.

  Most Witnesses are happy to let someone else do the hard work of thinking for them. Despite it's handicapping effect; it affords a certain level of comfort for people who need to have their reality sliced and diced into nice, neat, little symmetrical categories.

  i don't know they all must be pretty old and really set in there ways, especially with all the yes men they surround themselves with you know those gbwanabees at bethel,.

  i would say that all those gbwanabees at bethel must be pretty wierd too.. are(all) right,, what i wanna know is,, are there any younger men on the body so they don't all go senile at once?

  ya think they kinda coulda ben a little more cautous..

  Elderly JW refused to open her Bible...

  okay, some of you might have read about my conversation with the elderly lady that was doing street witnessing in conyers, ga. this experience happened this morning ... just looked at the clock, yesterday morning .

  i walked out of the local tag office (where we register our vehicles and acquire license plates for the cars) and there sat an elderly lady with current magazines.

  being in somewhat of a hurry, i tried to walk a more direct path to my vehicle ... but she thought i was avioding her.

  Yes, they are indeed looking for a certain type of person, someone with no knowledge of the Bible or science and who will accept everything they are told to believe.

  This is absolutely true. According to JWs, those who are "sheeplike" are those who are mental ciphers.

  So now on to my question... If the JW's are planning on a world wide campaign distrubting a tract 'exposing false religon' could they potentially find themselves under fire? At the mercy of the law?

  Well, the tract campaign is due to begin in late October right? That's only a month away. You said that the bill had been introduced in your country and not yet passed right?

  I don't know anything about your country's legislative process, but here in the U.S., when a bill is introduced in the Congress, it can take up to a year for it to become law. (that's assuming that it can even be agreed upon by both chambers)

  It sounds to me like there would never be enough time for such a bill to be passed into law before the JWs campaign gets under way. But, then again, maybe your country's process is quicker than ours.

  3.3 million old girl ?

  london (reuters) - a 3.3 million-year-old skeleton of the earliest child ever found shows the ancient ancestor of modern humans walked upright but may also have climbed trees, scientists said on wednesday.

  they found the well-preserved remains of a three-year-old girl of the species australopithecus afarensis -- which includes the fossil skeleton known as "lucy" -- in the dikika area of ethiopia, 400 kms northeast of the capital addis ababa.. "it represents the earliest and most complete partial skeleton of a child ever found in the history of paeleoanthropology," said dr zeresenay alemseged, of the max planck institute for evolutionary anthropology in leipzig, germany.. the skull, torso and upper and lower limbs, including the hand, show both human and ape-like features.

  the state of the ancient bones suggest she was buried in a flood which may also have caused her death.. the remains provide the first evidence of what babies of early human ancestors looked like.

  These species were not "monkeys" since they are "bidpedal" or walked on two feet. Bipedalism is clearly demonstrated in the speicimen's skeletal structures.

  By the way, no evolutionist has ever suggested that humans evolved from monkeys or apes. This is a common mistake that people make. According to Darwin, modern Homo sapiens and modern primates are seperate branches of an evolutionary tree that both evolved from one common "ape-like" ancestor which lived millions of years ago.

  We know that these species that lived millions of years ago were not just "monkey" or "apes" because there is proof that these species walked on two feet. One discovery is from some 2 million years ago. It is two sets of footprints in ash-mud that later turned to stone and was unearthed back in the 1970's. The footprints clearly are from bipedal species. They know the footprints are at least 2 million years old because the volcanic ash is from an erruption that was dated (through seperate geological data) to the same period.
