Is There Anything That You Still Believe In Because of the Witnesses?

i still don't believe in hellfire.

i think astrology and palm reading is ridiculous.

that's a couple of things that i know i got from being a jw......what about you??

I am with you on hellfire, astrology and palm reading. Anything "occult."
Since I was raised JW (but never baptized) I have not bowed down to a statue or lit candles or used prayer beads. Always looked like unnecessary foolishness to me. Still does.
But then I also believe(d) Nessie is a family of plesiosaurs who got trapped in the loch after the flood waters receded!

if the elders came and inspected your home - what would they find?.

a casual look around reveals a box of "narnia" tissues on my desk, 12 or 14 non-witness translations of bibles on my shelves, many non approved novels [wifey's] on the reading table, plenty of 'apostate literature', a book or two on meditation, a hypnosis cd for weight loss, prob many toys that are not witness approved in the g-kids room, a half eaten birthday cake, a birthday balloon, xmas wrapping paper in the closet , a couple of r rated movies, music that is not acceptable.. that is just at first blush.

I enjoy Celestial Seasonings teas. The "Tension Tamer" packaging portrays a noble lady atop a docile reptile sippin' a cuppa'.
A houseplant on the window sill with a shamrock decoration that exclaims: "Erin Go Bragh!"
A NASCAR magnet on the fridge.
An oven mitt with a winter scene of snow-laden pines...

The Whore of Babylon, Satan the Dragon, pre-Chrisitian pagan shapes with nationalistic themes, deadly motorsports, and Christmas...
And that's just the kitchen!

ok, here's the challenge: how do you tell your witness "friends" and relatives that you don't think it's the "truth" - without them labeling .

you as an apostate and fleeing in terror?

i'm tired of questions behind my back like "doesn't he go to meetings?

i'm leaving work tired and stressed from a hard day and what do i find???

someone backed into my new mini cooper and left a nasty dent and took off the black plastic rim that goes over the front passenger wheel.

hell, even the passenger door won't open.

Was Rutherford Mentally Ill?

in the golden age goodies thread leolaia has posted two letters that were printed in the magazine written by rutherford, one in 1928 and the other in 1938. in both letters rutherford states either that radio "was created by god" or "no man invented radio".. rutherford also goes into his conspiratorial ideas of how the roman catholic church was working with the nazis to overthrow the governments of england and of the usa to bring in a totalitarian fascist government to both countries.. these remarks sound like the ravings of someone who is not mentally all there.. so the question that naturally arises is this: was rutherford mentally ill?.

One word: Demonized.

Rutherford reported that "angels" imparted information directly to him through electronic radio waves or some nonsense. Not the Holy Spirit helper that Jesus promised, but ANGELS.

Which angels do you think they were? Hmmmm?

Okay, sorry, that's more than one word! Yet the WTS is certainly "Spirit Directed" to this day.

yesterday, i was having a horrible day....(some of you may know).

well i was given the 2 hour long conversation on "how i am a evil unacceptable person".

as in my last thread, i stated that my sister went threw my house and found pictures of my children in their halloween costumes.

Brooke, A low blow in deed from your "fleshly" sister. Surely she means well to "adjust" you to the right "heart condtion." My own heart is with you and your children. Scripturally, you may wish to "adjust" her "mental regulating" with Jesus' own admonition, "You who are without sin, cast the first stone." Susan
