Publications with multimillion circulations
In future, the new Watchtower LITHOMAN presses will be producing a large propoprtion of the high-circulation publications such as The Watchtower with a circulation of just under 25 million copies in 146 languages and Awake with a momentary circulation of 22 million copies in 86 languages. In addition, the machines are intended for use in the production of bibles or books of biblical exegesis, each in multimillion circulation.
(12.07.06)
—————
http://www.jw-media.org/newsroom/index.htm
"Their primary journal, The Watchtower, has an international circulation of 25,203,000, in 147 languages."
(September 1, 2003)
Placement numbers are certainly fudged from the bottom up so as to be useless.
Please note that Awake circulation is reported as "momentary." Since the public, dumbed-down version of the WT will be so similar to an Awake, it would make good $ sense to merge to them. What we're basically getting (or not getting) will be the Koolaid version WT, an Awake, and a dumbed-down WT that may as well be an Awake anyway.

What do you think is behind the watchtower change in 2008 ?
by 5go ini think it's an atempt to catch faders or atleast make active dubs feel special.
it also could be a cost cutting measure to though.
getting rid of the km's and even up awakes and watchtowers would save some trees.

***"Interested ones" was specifically mentioned in the letter. In practical terms, I imagine this means that anybody who shows up for a Watchtower study will be provided with copy the Study Watchtower--it is still a public meeting, after all.***
I called Bethel about this and the gentleman was guarded in his answer. He made the distinction that the Public Talk was open to the general public, but the Congregation Watchtower Study was specifically for baptized members and unbaptized publishers only.
I asked him if I would be prohibited from attending the Watchtower study, since I am not baptized, and my study was ended by the the JW, not me. I still receive the magazines every month. He said there's no direction on that "at this time." He suggested that if I consistently attended meetings, I should have no problem continuing to receive either issue of the Watchtower, and I should be welcome at the study.
But he could not guarantee it.
I would like to see them announce that all non-members must vacate the premises because the "Congregation" study is about to begin! We shall see.

High school anti-cult lessons
by IT Support ini've been asked to help develop a course for high school students to teach them about destructive cults and how to identify them.
not jw-bashing) to be useful for all students (and also not to frighten off jw kids and their parents), i would hope it might help jws (kids and parents) to start to think.
does anyone know of anything similar that we could buy in?

UN-BE-FLIPPING-LIEVABLE chance JW meeting moments ago...
by Confession inthis is trippy.... the set-up: every weekend, 45 weekends per year, a company flies me to a different city in the u.s., and has me lead group presentations to families of college-bound high school students.
we then offer to sell them our college preparation program.. a few weekends ago we were in fresno, california.
he asked which organization it was.

You may have used presentation skills ingrained from the TMS. He probably picked up on certain gestures, timing or phrases unique to JWs.
Still... it's just creepy to track you down like that. The nerve!

This new arrangement sounds eerily familiar...
25"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
27"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. 28In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

tsof, did the letter mention if "interested ones" would be allowed to attend the Sunday WT study at the KH?
How will they handle people who are studying, but not yet baptized publishers? Or those who may wander in from off the street?
