She asked an elder to ask if the people boxing her in could move their car.
And he disrespected her wishes and ruined her car. He needs to man-up and pay for the damage he caused, or step down as an elder. Personally I would call for both due to his cowardly cavalier attitude to her dilemma.
But truly, she is at fault: She willingly (and stupidly) handed over her keys to another driver. She defaulted to his manly "headship."
Her mistake in judgement. But yeah, he's gotta pay, even if it's $10 a week until it's made right.
The very first thing my father told me, when I bought my first car as a teenager:
"Never hand your car keys to someone else. They didn't work for it, they didn't pay for it, and they'll never respect your property with the same care and attention you would. And don't be too quick to drive someone else's car, either. They'll find some old scratch or dent or sound or something and try to blame it on you."
Dad was a cop who dealt with the lowest-of-the-low scum sh*t elements of society all his life. I'm grateful he taught us how to avoid them, by taking personal responsibility for ourselves and our property. Mom the JW would just tell us "Forgive, and let anyone screw you over, Jehovah will take care of it all in the New System." A divided household had its advantages.
