• Will this JW drag your child around in field service all day while you and your wife work? We know how they use children as "human shields." Worldly people are less likely to slam the door in the face of a child. Less likely to say "No" to a child soliciting donations, too.
• If there's a horrible accident, and your daughter is losing blood rapidly, will this JW delay proper medical care? Will she disrespect your Headship™ as a male because you are not a JW? "Obey God rather than men" and take emergency medical decisions into her own hands?
• And if this JW is minding children in her private home, what about other JW residents present? Can you be assured they aren't active pedophiles who've been covered up by her elders?

My Wife wants to allow a Sister from her congregation to provide before and after care for my oldest daughter...
by garyneal inwhen my littlest one was born we knew finding affordable daycare would be tough.
a sister in her congregation was suggested over and over and we finally checked her out and allowed her to keep the baby.
my oldest has had a fairly normal life (thanks largely to me and my wife before she became a witness) and because of that she is quick to speak of birthdays, holidays, etc.. i want her to continue to have a fairly normal life as i know how hard it would be for her to be 'singled out' because her friends decide to do these things.. she's about to start kindergarten and my wife wants to try some sister from her congregation who is looking to make some extra money providing before and after care.

Hungary strips JW's of its legal status as a religious organization
by Honesty inhttp://www.virtueonline.org/portal/modules/news/article.php?storyid=14742.
hungary has introduced a new law governing the registration of religious groups that critics charge discriminates against minority faiths, and strips st margaret's anglican church in budapest of its status as a religious organisation.. .
on 14 july the hungarian parliament adopted "the right to freedom of conscience and religion and on the status of churches, religions and religious communities" law, by a vote of 254 in favour to 43 opposed.. .

Hungary's 348 other faiths and denominations were stripped of their legal status as religious organisations and lost their tax exempt status and entitlements to state subsidies.
This is not entirely true. The religiou$ organization$ need to register to continue receiving government funding.
There is no separation of church and state. THAT is the problem. They didn't go far enough, IMHO. If your God or Gods are so wonderful, won't He/She/It/They keep your personal brand of faith flourishing? Why should a Hungarian Catholic, for example, be forced to hand over their earnings to the Watchtower, or Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, etc.?
That, to me, is true religious persecution: Coercing citizens (both believers and non-believers alike) to finance faiths and CULTures they cannot support in good conscience. Some of which, as we know, spread divisiveness and even call for their extermination.

Parliament could consider applications for more churches in autumnBy MTI
A further eight to ten religious organisations could apply for official church status during parliament’s autumn session, state secretary in charge of church issues Laszlo Szaszfalvi told MTI on Saturday.
Szaszfalvi said that, so far, the Hungarian Anglican, Methodist, Pentecostal and Seventh-Day Adventist churches, as well as two Islamic congregations, the Buddhists and some other parties had indicated they wished to be officially registered as churches.
Applications for church status are to be submitted to the Justice Ministry, which will pass them on to parliament for a decision, Szaszfalvi said. He promised that his secretariat would ensure “the least bureaucracy and the utmost speed” in the registration process.
Szaszfalvi also said that the government would ensure that religious organisations that run social institutions or schools but that are not considered churches under Hungary’s new church law would continue to receive per capita funding from the central budget in 2011 and 2012. He added, however, that the details of the financing must still be settled.
The new church law, passed by parliament on July 12, recognises 14 churches; other organisations will need approval by two-thirds of Parliament to be registered as a church or religious congregation.

Church bill was aimed at Scientology, portal reports
By Hungary Around the ClockExcluding Scientology from the list of recognised churches was one of the key goals of amendments made by Fidesz to the church bill submitted by the Christian Democrats, news website Origo has reported.
Sources who know the details of the decision but who asked that their name be withheld said Speaker László Kövér initiated the changes at a meeting of the Fidesz executive prior to the vote in Parliament expressly to ensure that Scientology would not be granted church status.
The law, due to enter into force on January 1, recognises only 14 churches, but Parliament has the power to add other churches to that number. -

Angels are taking the lead in the preaching work
by mankkeli inconsider one experience in which two kingdom publishers were accompanied by a small child.
at the end of the morning, the two witnesses were about to stop their preaching work, but the child was unusually eager to go to the next home.
in fact, he went by himself and knocked on the door!

Don't you dare leave that in. It's child abuse to guilt little ones into "eager" field service. Even worse, encouraging them to knock on doors unaccompanied.

If you want to get rid of your suits and do a good turn the Men's Warehouse is doing a clothing drive this month:
Thank you, Mrs Jones, that's a fabulous solution.
I'd also like to add, from past experience volunteering at a homeless shelter for battered women, that residents need ladies' business clothes for job interviews and going forward.
Many are traditional homemakers with small children in tow. They are rebuilding a *new* home away from their abusers, and becoming self-supporting for the first time in their lives.
Even for an entry-level position, it's a booster to have a classic, yet still stylish, ladies' business wardrobe to choose from. Good quality "costume" jewelry, too. Every little bit helps our sisters succeed.

Hands down, the best book about the JW's/WTS is "Crisis of Conscience," by Raymond Franz, former member of the Governing Body.

BOTR:
I want to be a feminist and Cinderella at the same time.
Oh, honey, don't we all! Maybe that's why I'm 15 years into a committed relationship with no ring on my finger… but totally thrived as a bridal consultant?
I watched some of the Gypsy Wedding videos and still cannot get over how they padded little girls' dresses with fake "boobs" in them to mimic a mature woman, yet the brides themselves are little more than teenagers. It's sick. They will all grow up soon enough, once the forced finery and flash is over. Sad.

Wow. Where were these people, when I took a career break to work in the bridal industry? Could have made a fortune selling lavish wedding paraphernalia and all the new-home accoutrements to them!
But I have seen it, with *some* "fringe" types, all trying to out-do each other buying the most outrageous gifts, ca-ching ca-ching for me. And all paid in full with cash on the barrelhead, because they have bottomless coffers of unreported, untaxed income to blow.
With all these "Bridezilla" shows… I'll let you in on something: It's not the bride. It's not even her parents. It's the mother of the groom, who is the greediest, grabbiest person in the U.S. bridal world. Loved the couples, feared the mother-of-the-grooms' underhanded manipulations, and always will.
Scary b*tches. But my clients truly were the couples, and my loyalties were to them and their needs/wishes and special day. A joy to assist people with a major milestone, and rewarding to actually get paid for it! Their kind referrals drove my boat for a much-needed year out of the rat race.
