  Books I read when I deprogrammed

  blondie suggested someone start a thread with a list of books that are valuable to read when exiting the jws.. i will start.. i left the jws way back in the early 70s and didn't actually deprogram until into the 80s.. one of the first books i read was "the orwellian world of jehovah's witnesses" by gary and heather botting.

  canadian exjws from calagary.

  an excellent book and one that still resonates with young people today.

  WorldCat.org lets you find an item of interest and then locate a library near you that owns it. Usually you will link directly to the item record on the library's Web site. The actions available to you on that page will vary from one library to another. You may be able to join a waiting list, reserve the item, check it out or even have it shipped or delivered.
  
  

  Once the book is in legitimate hard copy circulation, it would be a good idea to go to the library systems and get them to purchase a copy. Libraries have purchasing budgets for patron requests.
  

  There was always the issue of CoC disappearing from collections. Active JW’s would check them out and “lose” them. Or just outright steal.
  
  There was no workaround years ago. Now, libraries are loading up Kindles for loan (with a small, refundable deposit).

  Riebling’s Taurus Investment Holdings, a global real estate company based in Boston (with a NYC office) is a completely different entity. Mr. Zemsky has no affiliation with them other than a similar name. Dozens of registered companies all throughout the U.S. carry the name "Taurus".
  
  Zemsky’s recent (January 2015) appointment to Empire State Development is a state-wide agency stewardship role that has had, and will, have some oversight with DUMBO projects going forward.   “The site spans an entire city block in the dynamic DUMBO neighborhood and has nearly 1 million square feet of development rights,” Richard Devine, a Jehovah's Witnesses spokesman, said in a statement. It's near the foot of the Manhattan Bridge.
  
  Now used as a parking lot, the 135,000-square-foot Jay Street site also has frontage on York, Front and Bridge streets. Real estate sources told the Brooklyn Eagle two years ago that developers who had approached the Witnesses at that time were willing to fork over $400 per buildable square foot — nearly $400 million.
  
  A competitive offering process has also started for 124 Columbia Heights, a ten-story, 152,000-square-foot residential building that overlooks Brooklyn Heights' beloved Promenade.
  
  Devine called it “a remarkable building with spectacular views of the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty and the impressive Lower Manhattan skyline.”
  
  The Witnesses, who expect to complete their Warwick headquarters construction in 2017, still own another dozen Brooklyn Heights properties they have not yet brought to market.
