JEZEBEL: Star of this week's Book Study!! (With post-game highlights)
by Open mind injezebel played the starring role in this week's cbs of the revelation book.
i couldn't help but think of all you "strong willed" women on this site who dare to "step out of line".
yes, those are exact quotes plucked from this weeks lesson.

Education gets yet another bashing!!
by Gill ineducation takes yet another battering in the may 1st watchtower.. the mag gives this example:.
young christians today face similar challeges.
matthew, who serves at a branch office of jehovah's witnesses recalls: 'when i began serving as a pioneer, my father was extremely disappointed.

***How did Matthew deal with that opposition?***
This is twisted. The father lovingly wants what's in his son's best interest: to use his educational advantage to earn a living. But because the WT already has it's nasty claws in the young man, that makes dad an OPPOSER.
And they claim they don't divide families?

To all JW lurkers
by Junction-Guy inperhaps you have been reading this board for awhile, and you may believe some of the things we have been saying, however you are still gripped in fear of armageddon.. .
the wt society has been predicting armageddon for well over 100 years, and when the prophecies fail, they blame you and say "we never said that".
if i can impart any words of wisdom to you, it's just this:.

Welcome lost%confused!
It does take a lot of courage to make that first post. The initial guilt will dissipate, the more you learn about people in your same situation and how they are coping.

Phrases that control the mind and thinking
by Gill insome of the words that i always look out for in watchtower literature are the following:.
without doubt...... evidently...... obviously....... we can conclude from this......... can you think of more?.
a lot has to be learnt from blondie's watchtower studies and some of it is that when the wt society has no evidence for a supposition it plants one of these phrases that suggest stupidity on the part of the reader if he/she doesn't agree with what idea the watchtower society has come up with!.

According to one writer...
Researchers have shown...
Experts note...
Many agree...
(Who the heck *are* these people? Are they made up? Why should the reader believe anything from an anonymous source?)
As we shall see, ...
True, ...
Just as..., so can...
Despite...
Not surprisingly...
It is generally understood...
..., concluded one study.

Got my invite, will not go.
Know my mom and bro will go.
Toying with the idea that I may send a short and sweet thank-you note to the inviter, scripturally explaining my absence.
To all the faders attending, or anyone doing so for family: I wish you great strength and the peace that exceeds all thought in your minds and hearts.

Thanks sir82 & Atlantis for making this available.
I was wondering if the aux. pioneer who dropped off my Memorial invite printed up the labels herself at her own expense, or if the congo did so?
Now I know.
I don't have a problem with the WT setting up a volume discount with OfficeMax; it makes perfect business sense.
I'm just glad they're not imposing the trouble and expense on individual publishers, who may errantly and independently use a snappy typeface or add a "praise the Lord, Christ our King."
OTWO said: I mainly look forward to how you guys will change the invitation and comment on it.
Me too!

Passive-aggressive behavior/posting
by onacruse inhaving had a few days to reflect on this, and resolving some conflicts, i'd like to explore this p/a aspect of human behavior.. first off, let me say that i am oftentimes p/a, usually as an effort to elicit the deeper meanings of other people.. however, sometimes i'm p/a because i'm not really sure of where i'm going in a topic: my indecision presents a p/a.. and then there are times when i'm p/a, not even knowing it.. this last realization was presented to me by another poster, some time back, when he pointed out to me how often the wts uses p/a in their literature.
i had never noticed it.
it was just part of my upbringing, my conditioning, and i naturally adopted that "way" of behaving as normal.. so, as another little p/a post .

Kwin, thanks for sharing your experience. You were very kind and engaging.
I hope they *will* return, and you can help (not fight them) again.

Has anyone tried eharmony or Match.com?
by thecarpenter ini just joined eharmony (tired of meeting chicks who are married or too young for me) and i was wondering if anyone has had any success with it?
has anyone had any success with match.com?
-

thecarpenter, I have not tried either, but went to two weddings in as many years where both couples met on match.com and they really swear by it.
But they were all good natured, professional people to begin with, never married, no kids, no debt. They weren't just looking to play around, they wanted to settle down. Everyone's happy, their families, too.
Another couple met in a "cart accident" in a Home Depot and I cannot even begin to relate the bizarro lies that come out of that woman's head, it's like a sitcom from hell. I think the guy would have done much better on an online dating site like eharmony or match.com where he could screen out the loonies a little better.
Good luck :-)
