Once again I ask why do we have to immagine a bible testing God?
We don't.
i get this daily email from a bible thumping friend of mine this was part of todays topic.. sometimes we wonder, "why do we have to go through these trials & breakings, lord?
" well, there are some things the lord can't reveal to you in advance because you're not yet ready.
he's got to let you go through some testings without your even knowing what the future holds, to see if you can take it, to see how loyal you are, to see how strong you are, to see how faithful you are, to see if you will be willing to do whatever he asks!
Once again I ask why do we have to immagine a bible testing God?
We don't.
i have had this problem all my life.
i have a child that also has it.
since people with adhd have a problem fitting into organizations do you think it may be one of the reasons why you just couldn't take the jw's any more.
But for those who suggest ADD or ADHD doesn't really exist or may not, you are wrong. Sorry, you are. Just because they haven't figured out how to properly diagnose it yet, or find the proof of how it effects the brain, doesn't mean its not real. I am sure those who said someone who had schizophrenia was "possessed" in years gone by, would wholeheartedly agree. If you dont' understand something, it must not be real right?
Maybe someone else suggested this but I did not. However you seem to have implied:
1. It cannot be properly diagnosed with accuracy
2. There is no proof for how it affects the brain
If that is true and I believe it is, as a society we are medicating people randomly based on a abstract concept that cannot be proven. Do some people feel that this has totally changed their lives for the better? Without doubt. However there is still a need to find a underlying physical cause for these disorders and find a means to treat the disorder and not the symptom. Psychiatry has is the only branch of medicine that has never cured any diseases. We may not view people as possessed, but they have no more hope today in severe cases than they did 100 years ago. Schizophrenia is only treatable in a small number of cases and those usually are not severe.
I myself use to work in the mental health field, although not as a mental health professional, but have had this confirmed by many doctors and social workers.
There needs to be a revolution in the way the field of psychiatry is approached. For more information I encourage anyone interested to pick up the latest copy of skeptic magazine which has a great article in it about the new direction of psychiatry that is being looked into today.

DISCLAMER:
I merely bring up the points in my above posts for academic interest only, I in no way endorse anyone going off their medication or trying to self diagnosis. Everyone should consult a doctor if they are experiencing mental health problems and not some guy off the internetz. If you do have a serious mental disorder that requires medication of any kind I do recommend a psychiatrist as according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) only a mental health professional is qualified to make a proper diagnosis of a mental disorder.

So according to webmd the process is along these lines:
1. Test for any real medical conditions (lead poisoning, hearing or vision problems, blood disorders, etc)
2. Upon failure to find any medical condition a psychiatric test is administered.
3. Results of the test are compared to the DSM
4. Diagnosis is made based on doctors interpretation of DSM.
90% of doctors that prescribe ADD meds are not psychiatrists and according to the DSM not qualifed to make the diagnosis.

And it doesn't for Bi-Polar either...but yet this is a common concern for ones that have it and is quite known and recognized.
Indeed. this is why psychiatry is not considered a true science. The latest issue of skeptic magazine has a very good article about this (written by a psychiatrist) and specifically lists ADD as a major problem within the medical community. The problem with the DSM in general is that it is very open to interpretation and it even use to list homosexuality as a mental disorder up until around 1970.
There are many criticisms of the DSM, but the main ones are:

What do you mean by "medical" testing? They did several tests on my son that was very extensive in my opinion. It wasn't just "oh, he has ADD", there was a lot more to it because I basically fought it for a good while.
What kind of 'tests' were preformed? The DSM does not list any tests that can be run to test for ADD, you cannot draw blood or look at someone's brain under a MRI and say, yep, there it is.

I just want to point you that ADHD or ADD has not been proven to exist. There is no medical test for it, they diagnosis criteria is vague and the major of cases seem only to appear in the US.
The medication for ADHD or ADD is a stimulant, I want to dispel the myth that stimulants have different effects on ADD people, this has not been proven. Anyone will have more focus and concentration while under the influence of a stimulant. This is why caffeine is so popular while studying. Ritalin is also a common drug among some college kids for helping them study.
hello again!.
i never thought that so many are believers of a godless life.
i would like to know, because i just don't understand, how anyone can live life feeling god does not and can not exist?
Atheism or non-belief in god is the default position off all people when they are first born, they only become religious through indoctrination education. If you want to imagine not believing in god, just pretend no one ever told you about him/her/it.
introduction.
in 1942, the supreme court sustained the conviction of a jehovah's witness who addressed a police officer as a "god dammed racketeer" and "a damned facist" (chaplinksy v. new hampshire).
the court's opinion in the case stated that there was a category of face-to-face epithets, or "fighting words," that was wholly outside of the protection of the first amendment: those words "which by their very utterance inflict injury" and which "are no essential part of any exposition of ideas.".
My second post states the purpose and my third post states it again. So lets state it one more time do you think people that advocated the destruction of all religion are practicing hate speech? Or better put where is the line between hate speech and adding ideas to the discussion of advocating the destruction of all religion?
Again, you are trying to imply a situation that does not exist. The question itself is misleading because no one that I am aware has called to violence towards religious people, buildings or groups which is the very definition of *hate* speech.
You are trying to create a controversy that does not exist in reality.

I do not believe hate speech is even illegal in the US, so why ask the question to begin with?
Unless you are trying to imply something by asking the question itself, for example, have you quit you drug habit? Have you stopped cheating on your girlfriend?
While not directly stating you have done these things the question is misleading because it implies that you have.
