JoinedMy only real affiliation with the JW religion is having dated one for 6 years and attending a 1 on1 "Bible Study" with an elder and former overseer for all of eastern Canada. As well, as a child I observed my fathers abuse at the door and heard his comments. About me...I was born in Scotland 60 yrs ago, came to Canada at age 1 and am the oldest of 12 children. We were poor and my upbringing was both physically and emotionally very abusive. I survived until put out on the street at age 17 when my fathers military pension stopped giving him money for me. Having an incomplete high school education, I joined the Navy. After 30 years,2 wives and 3children I retired.During that time my 1st wife left me for my best friend and tried to permanently stop me from seeing my 2 sons. Her family had influence at higher levels and i was transferred to the other side of the country. I travelled to see my boys and fought for 5 years to get back. I did and to this day have the love of my children. My 2nd wife was a rebound and I turned to alcohol so that marriage disintegrated along with me seeing my daughter. Another long fight and I have the deepest love and support of her and my 2 beautiful grandchildren. Throughout my life I had no real religious training. My father ridiculed anything involving religion and the only thing I knew was they brought some food and gifts to our poor family at Christmas, which my mother had to hide from my father. As far as God was concerned,I hated him for everything that had happened in my life. As a result of going to AA 22 years ago I got to read some things about God and any traing I have on the Bible I have done on my own with books and prayer. I have been told that I have a very good insight and knowledge of scripture . Although retired,I work at a 2nd job, have a car a home and am reasonably content with life I attend church, read my bible and pray gratefully every day for what I have. I love nature, love to live life and help others.
