Letter to Ritchie's Mom
by jgnat ina young man is on the verge of saying goodbye to his mother.
he's forced in to this position due by a rigid organization that punishes strength, intelligence, and individuality.
i dedicate this thread to all good thoughts about richie rich.

Dear Ritchie's mum
so much has been said already but speaking as one mother to another, if you truly believe in Jehovah and that he is a God of love, his love is unconditional and he wouldn't want you to go through the pain of having to shun your son, or bestow that pain on him, that would be a cruel God indeed, watchtower society has changed its standing on issues several times, if in the future they change there stand on this will you be able to get back what you have thrown away? Will you spend the rest of your life regretting missing out on Ritchies happy times..maybe future grandkids etc.It is a credit to your son's love for you and the relationship you have that he is able to make his own desicions and excercise his God given priviledge of free will to decide which path to take in his life, that should be what we want for all our children not for them to live a life of unhappiness to please their parents. Allow him to make that choice freely without condition. You can still have a relationship with your son and worship your God.

WATCHTOWER and AWAKE magazines
by Honesty inwatchtower and awake!
magazines:.
spiritual food or spiritual poison?
-
beezknees
The watchtower & Awake mags are written by clever people using proven language patterns that will get someone open to your suggestions, they should write for politicians as this is what they do also , its amazing how whatever they put into these magazines they manage to turn into a blessing (reframing it as its called) , so instead of saying oh we got it wrong and millions now living will actually die resulting in lots of 'discouraged' worshippers, they turn it into a blessing, something we should be grateful for and just accept 'isn't it wonderful that we recieve this spiritual light from jehovah at the proper time' (or words to that effect).. and all the sheep go 'baaaaaah' in agreement,
Watchtower & Awake magazines = Great tools to keep the sheep bleating

Did your reading skills suffer from your JW experience?
by Maryjane ini was a staunch jw and rarely read anything other than the wt/awake and newspapers (reading level - 6th grade maybe?
) prior to becoming a jw i could easily read a book a week...now it takes me forever just to get through one novel.
has anyone else lost their reading attention span?

Losing close relatives in "armageddon"
by greendawn inwhile you were jws, when the wts was saying that in a soon to come armageddon all non jws were to be exterminated, that was hard to stomach by many especially concerning innocent children.
however did that make you feel very anxious about the killing of close non jw relatives, parents, brothers, children etc and their eternal loss?
did that make you work extra hard to bring them in?

being brought up in the organisation, i didn't only just worry about relatives, it was people i knew at school and neighbours, horrible thought of 'clearing' up the bodies after armaggeddon..so cruel to teach this to adults let alone impressionable children

"Deliverance at Hand" District Convention Invitation
by Elsewhere intruthsetsonefree has provided spiritual food at the proper time by emailing me these scans.... this is the little hand-bill invitation for the next district convention that we've been hearing about.
considering the fact that most jws never actually read such things before handing them out, i suspect that many people will be given these things but never actually told when and where the convention will be held!
on the back it says: "the local congregation of jehovahs witnesses invites you to attend the convention that will be held at the time and location shown here.

HOW MANY THOUGHT THEY WOULD SURVIVE
by beezknees ini'm sure this will have been discussed before..but i am new here, so i was wondering how many of you when you where active jw's actually beleived you were going to survive armageddon.
i personally being brought up in the 'truth' used to lie in bed frightened of it coming or world events always thinking i was too bad a person to survive, and even as an adult i always felt i was never doing enough or good enough to be 'chosen' for survival when the end came u were always made to feel like you should be doing more as though you could earn your salvation.
i have talked to someone else who i know has left and they felt the same, i was wondering how many of you guys actually beleived you would make it through armageddon
