  therefore i am new to the discussion board forum.

  when i first entered simon's place, i did not fear to speak my mind.

  Dear Mommy,

  I am very new to any chat room let alone this one and my main concern, like somebody else has already said, without seeing the people we are talking to, without the subtleties of intonation and facial expression it is so hard to judge intent and sincerity.

  Even so, it is obvious that some of our friends in this medium are hurting, some are judgemental, some are sad. Some have obviously been damaged by the WTS and some were probably damaged before they joined. e, we all have good days and bad days which colour our reactions to postings but may I say that I feel like I have made many friends in the forum. You have always impressed with with your pragmatism, your common sense, humour and warmth make me want to know you and the forum would be a much lomlier place without you imput.

  i don't mind them!

  but..... venomous snakes, spiders...... death maybe or major problems to whoever gets on the wrong side of one.. here i sit watching tv.....steve irwin on deadly snakes.. what kind of snake did satan use to talk to adam & eve?.

  why create deadly snakes?.

  personally, I love all snakes, have kept them for years..
  they are beautiful and mostly peacfull.

  Its flies I can't stand, cannot for the life of me immagine what usefull purpose they serve - a food source for lizards and toads perhaps but otherwise totally abhorent creatures !

  Marijuana...should it be legalised?

  after talkin in chat tonight....it has got me and a friend talkin about whether marijuana should be legalised.. my view...yes, .

  i) who has the right to tell me what to do with my own body?.

  ii) alcohol is a legalised drug....each year more deaths occur through alcohol abuse than marijuana usage.. iii) people smoke it anyway and the question is not bein addressed.. iv) it's great to get stoned!!!

  to legalise or not ? as with the J.W aceptance of blood I am all for freedom of choice as long as it is informed choice

  We used to believe that Canabis is much safer than tobacco however, more recent research tends to suggest that,certainly in long term, frequent user there may be implications. The oral cancers are more common in those who regularly smoke pot, and it seems that the quality of sperm may be reduced. There is also some suggestion that long term use may have a measurable effect on grey matter. Anything inhaled has the potential to be carcinogenic.

  On reflection it is fair to say that if cannabinols are used as an anti-depressant, there use is still probably safer than many of the prescribed medications currently available.

  Dear Francoise,

  Many thanks for your help. I should perhaps mention that I am not and never have been a Jehovah's Witness. I personaly believe that the WTS is remarkably corupt and a dangerous example of cultism.

  I have found some interesting papers on the generic theme of cults, mind control etc and would appreciate any other material you could point me to.

  In your recent posting you state that J.W's have a higher than normal incidence of dysfunctional problems - this does not suprise me as it fits the anecdotal evidence but do you know of any reliable sources to support your asertion

  Birthday parties- A good idea or not????

  i've just recently (today) booked my little girls first birthday party at mcdonalds, she went to a pals birthday party a week ago.

  well since i was brought without having any, and started bringing my daughter up that way, is it ok to do do them now we have left, i suppose now we have left it doesn't matter what we do now is it,are any other parents doing the same, i wonder?????.

  AS loving parents, of course we want to celebrate the day our children were born. Childhood passes so quickly and amidst the more mundane days of our lives it is truly great to demonstrate the perenial celebration of our children. When I married Leane, her son Kyle was 8 and had never known the joy of Christmas and birthday - how we made up for those "lost Years" and the joy to behold was priceless.

  i recieved this note from a young person i know personally.

  it brought tears to my eyes for someone so young to see things so clearly.

  why can't six million others see this simple reality and the need for change?.

  It is aknown fact that many paedophiled deliberately ingrateiate themselves in groups such as the J.W's to hide behind a shield of respectability - they are also assured that if their crimes become known in the group, they will not be exposed to the authorities.

  Yiy state that not all of those with paedophile tendencies go on to molest however, if you research the background of all "known" molesters, rapists and murderes you will find latent "tendencies" towards the crimes they eventualy commit.

  If the opportunity arises, like the conspiracy of silence at the wts, thoses with tendencies are more likely to enact their "tendencies"

  These are a very dangerous sub group of criminals and we owe it to the most vulnerable members of our society to adopt an attitude of zero tolerance - they must be made known to the authorities who can at least monitor their activities.
