I've been out for so many years and don't know the current "light" on this subject. I tried searching the forum but didn't find recent links on this topic. Anyone out there know what the current "understanding" from the fine "slave" is ? (gag)

Are JW's going to heaven?
by Obviously Secret ini just thought of that question while i was reading the thread about the farmer and the wolf.
i've read that illustration many times; people love it.
anywho, i was just wondering if you guys think people with "bad hearts" are going to heaven?

Hi Obviously Secret:
We as humans like to pigeon hole people into categories: really good, so so good, a little bad, really bad, etc. Jesus, however, placed everything on a very different scale. He taught that we are ALL sinners and as such have no place in judging others. We're all equally screwed so to speak.
He also made it clear that HE was the only way ("no one comes to the father except through me") and that to see the Kingdome of God you must be born again (John chapter 3). Does that mean you have to accept in this life? I don't know - perhaps many of us who have been raised/brainwashed in certain ways will have an opportunity to meet Jesus even at death so as to know the real truth and then make a decision.
I don't believe that any one denomination or church is the ONLY way - I believe what the bible taught - that Jesus himself is the ONLY way. One man - not a church or organization. Church is supposed to be the "body of Christ" here on earth - a light to the world - but not our doorway to heaven. That doorway comes only through Jesus and a personal relationship with him.
So to answer your question "Are JW's going to heaven" - I do believe there are JW's who have been born again, who love Jesus and have accepted him as their savior but who are lost and misguided. Yes, I believe these people are going to heaven. I feel for these ones as they are living a very tough life right now and are not able to experience the joy that he wanted for his church.
However - for those who know something is wrong with the doctrines or the organization but continue to stay and preach to others so as not to "rock the boat" - they may be in for a rude awakening as Gal 1:8 clearly states that if ANYONE preaches a gospel other than the one taught in the bible by the apostles then they would be condemned. The JW's are clearly teaching a different gospel - some of them are aware of that and are condemning themselves. Others are not aware of it and I believe will be shown mercy.
Bottom line is - I don't believe that anyone will go to hell that doesn't deserve to be there. God doesn't make mistakes - we may not understand the reason behind things or may not agree with what his decisions are, but I have faith that in the end he will make everything right.

I have an answer
by Bull_S_Eye infisrt i am not a jw anymore,i was basicaly raised in the jw faith, from age 6 to age 16,then i left, then i got married,my new wife wanted to know about jw's,so i took her to the meetings, now, when i went back i saw what they they had taught me as a child, all the same,i saw things that were not to my likeing,or what i thought were right ,but i still remained,i can only say this about the jw's,they are people like everyone else, they dont beleive in killing other people,,they dont dont beleive fornication,,theifvery, you all here know all this,so go ahead and throw stones at them, they to me are no different than any other people trieng to be good in a wild and wicked world,so what if they teach isnt tasteful to you,get over it,how many jew's didnt like what the jewish preist taught?i have met many other ex jw's,all whineing and wimpering about how jw's did this and did that, guys and gals,it was the jehovah that did it,it was the people you were in direct contact with,(non perfect humans)its the same as when you were in school, maybe a teacher didnt teach you everything you needed to know, well there is a libiray in schools, they have all the books so you can learn on your own,now i noticed some of you here have learned a lot, butbut if think your gonna just get by ,by hearing what some what says is truth, you can forget that, you got a big surprise waiting for you.even though i am not a jw.i do defend them,as i do any faihful regilous person who realy beleives in what they beleive in,you have to remember the main deal is ,god reads the hearts of the people ,so no matter who or where they are,he knows all he needs to know, there is nothing he doesnt see,and with that you should know that what ever you want to think or beleive,he see;s inside your heart,he knows if you or we ,are earnest in what we are doing,so thats all that matters, and i also must admit,jw's did open my eyes to a lot things ,such as all the faslehoods in the world, all the traditions of man,all there pagonistist rituals intertwined into the holidays of today,so i can asume some of you just got pissed off because you cant do the birthday thing ,(as my fleshly brother did) and christmas, all that other crap, but who cares anyways, money is the key of the world, and jw's never hid that fact,in fact i was raised to work hard and make money,to support my family, feed and clothe them, and all that goes with it,dont cheat and lie or steal, dont do drugs, dont be a drunkard, dont adultriate, fornicate, you all know the teachings, once again go ahead and bash them with stones, they did nothing good what so ever, all they did was screw up everyones mind, yeh right, like i said get over it,if you dont want to be a jw,fine do as i did leave them, they wont stop you,but you cant blame them for trieng to do what they beleive in,most not all of the ex jw's i have met try so hard to find fault with them, well you know what ,it easy to find fault in every one on this planet,no one is perfect, now what do you think of jehovah is the main issue not the ones telling about him,(when who else would)all the other groups do is try to hide that name, try to pull you into there churchs to get that 10th tideing thing, never once did i feel like i had to give anything to the jw's,in fact many of them (the people) did nothing short of bend over backwards to help me in many ways, but either way,you all read it,you all here know it,just like the book said,no one will have an excuse to say they didnt know,at least you did get a good teaching and learning of how to read the bible, for yourselves, you can call me an apostate, or what ever you want,it doesnt matter to me at all,i know what the thruth is,and i dont need any group of people to make me feel complete in life, call me anti social if you want, but i dont have to worry about aids,or getting robbed by friends(so called)dont have to worry about much of anything,i call on the name of jehovah ,and he heres me,he even answers me,and yes he helps me in every way of my life, the entire message that the jw's teach is call on jehovah,he is there for you all,and you dont have to in the jehovah's wittness's for him to hear you,i could go on and on,but i wont, probily wont even post here or read any replies of my post,i just stumbled across this site, and figured i would my 2 cents in,so i say now, live long and prosper,be well and happy all of humanity is my wish, thank you for place to post it host

Pastor tells congregation they need to "do more"
by Dawn ini know as jw's we always heard this from the platform "do more service, do more study, do more...blah blah blah" and we were never doing enough of course.. i was somewhat suprised by church service this last sunday as the pastor was fairly pointed in telling the congregation that they need to "do more" - only it was in a totally different context and something i have never heard as a jw.
he told the congregation that the major affliction with american christian churches is they are obiese spritiually - that is, overfed and under worked.
he went on to show scripture after scripture where jesus did good works for others and ended the sermon asking that the focus of the church be moved more towards doing good works for our community and charities.

People don't care how mch ou know, untill they know how much you care."
Exactly!! another saying...actions speak louder than words. It's true. I think he's right on target - we should be preaching the gospel through our actions and not just our mouths.

This church has always been charity focused - but the pastor now wants members to do more on a personal level with our community. The one comment that he made that really stuck out to me was to say that it's time to stop just preaching about it and start doing it - that we can do more witnessing by our actions and be a light to the world in that manner. Some examples he gave were doing random acts of kindness (like helping someone haul their groceries to the car, raking leaves for an older individual on our block, taking prepared dinners to someone who is ill, etc).
Anyways - I thought it was ironic that I was hearing the same message of do more but in a new context that that really made sense to me and seemed to fit more with what Jesus wanted christians to be.
I bet this is a message you'll never hear at the Kingdom Hall. Unless of course they're encouraging you to leave a WT while you do it (ugh...)

Correcting Falsehoods About Ray Franz's Beliefs (Holy Spirit, Trinity)
by allpoweredup insee what he himself says at http://www.commentarypress.com/essay-holyspirit.html i was told many falsehoods by watchtower diehards such as he is now "a rabid trinitarian," "a nondenominalist or pentecostal.
" also he's transdenominalist (associates with christians and others) not just those of one belief system.
i'm sure many of you also heard a lot of falsehoods put out about him.

I have not had the priviledge of meeting him in person but have been in contact via e-mail and he does seem very sincere and caring.
As far as the trinity goes - I put it in the same category as hellfire and other "doctrines". These are basically "doctrines" that can be proved or disproved using different scriptures. Anything that is not completely clear in the bible I view as a doctrine that each person should research and make their own decision on - but none of these doctrines are going to keep you from being saved, or save you for that matter.
The bible is very clear on a few points that DO make the difference: 1) Jesus is God's son (whether he's also God or something is a doctrine), 2) Jesus is divine in nature, and 3) Jesus is the ONLY way to God. Those teachings are clear in the bible and so they are the ones that I stand on. The rest of the doctrines are fun to argue pro vs. con - but I see them as no more importance than what church I go to on Sunday.
