Whats your goals:
by jelly injust as a way to get a dialog started what do you people consider you 2 most important goals: one can be thoecratic and the other more pragmatic.
for example mine would be to (1) make all the meetings, ( sometimes i dont wake up on sundays until 5 or 6 pm) (2) get into better shape.
jelly isnt just a nickname its a description.

Improve credit and get my aromatherapy license, and my theocratic goal is to never ever go to another meeting again.

What Kinds of Weird Things were you banned from or not allowed as a child?
by mama1119 ini could not have a big new kids on the block pin, or wear any new kids on the block pins in puplic becuase it was considered idolatry.
i also could not wear my shoes without laces (it was cool back then) because it looked wordly.
what other strange theings besides the usual holiday/birthday stuff weren't you allowed to do?

Remember when they used to say to kids:" If a circuit overseer came in to your room, would he be pleased at what he saw?" That was the big reason not to have posters, bad music OR a messy room, because the C.O. might not like it!

Rainy Days & Monday Mornings
by Outaservice inmost normal people i know and am around, look forward to the weekend and nice weather.
even though i have not been a publisher for several years now, i still associated weekends with taking the group out in service and baby sitting a lot of the kids from the hall, who the parents dropped off.
what a pleasure monday mornings were when i could go back to work.. also, nothing was greater than a stormy blizzard in the winter, or a thunderstorm (.

I think I'm over it now. Everyonce in a while I remember Thursday nights are meeting nights, but I usually don't think about it.

In our old congregation, the elders got to pick and choose who they allowed to play sports. If the men were related to the elders, they were allowed to. If they weren't, they could'nt. One elder told my Dad if he played basketball he would be removed as a MS, but the same elders son was on the basketball team at High School.

Entertaining yourself during the meetings

I used to spend alot of time trying to get my Brother to laugh so he would get in trouble. I used to doodle mustaches and beards on the women in the watchtower and put dresses and earings and lipstick on the men. I would daydream alot. At the assemblies I knew a bathroom break would take up alot of time because the bathroom was far away and there was alwyas a line. I found the best way to pass time during meeting is not to go.

Does anyone know what to do when a dog attacks?
by restrangled inthis evening i was walking one of my doberman's, he is 103 pounds.
he was perfectly behaved at my side.
out of no where an oversized pitbull charges us from across the street.. there was a terrible fight and i'm screaming help, help at the house where he came from.

In our neighborhood, the CC&R's prevent you from having a pitbull. This same situation happened to us a few months ago. We were walking our dog on a leash and another dog came from his yeard into the street and attacked our dog. He had to get stitches, and the owner of the dog was ticketed and held responsible for vet fees. Make sure you report it.
I agree with earthtone, don't put anything past your dog, no matter how wonderful he may seem. We have a heeler/australian shepard mix and he is a great dog. But he is not allowed to sleep in my daughters room at night (he wants to so bad) because you just never know. Better safe than sorry.
