Has Your Fashion Sense Changed Since You Were a Dub?????
by mama1119 inmine has.
as a child i wore the woal skirts and turtlenecks (hated them) and as a teen i wore lots of ugly skirts and tops with buttons, made sure not to look trendy.
when i was in my early twenties and on my way out i started being more myself, wearing some funky digs, pretty much just to give a shock.

This isn;t about Christmas, its about Halloween: I used to work in a Cosmetics Department of a upscale Department store. I was one of three JW in the Dept, I, myself, was very liberal, the other two were DEVOUT!!!!! Our deparment manager wanted us all to dress up for Halloween and the two witnesses said no. So she changed it to we all had to dresslike a old moviestar of our choice and instead of calling it Halloween we called it Glamour Day...ON HALLOWEEN, and they did it, no big deal. It was just changing of the words and they were all over it! Goes to show you how easily they will do something they want, as long as its worded properly..

Binoculars at the District Assemblys
by restrangled inanyone remember spending most of their time staring out of binoculars for good looking people out of the binoculars for prospects and then spending your free time in that section hunting these people down?.
this past time as i remember was the most wonderful part of the assemblies!.
tell your story!
-
mama1119
I remember you would have to keep them pointed in the general direction of the stage so as not to be so obvious you were staring at people. It did help the time pass.

What were your seating habits at the hall?
by JH ini would always leave a space between me and someone else.
i hated when someone was seated right next to me.
didn't feel comfortable.. i also loved sitting in back of a tall person, that would hide everything, like that i could close my eyes and the speaker wouldn't notice.....lol.

In the back until I had my daughter, and then prretty much planted it in the nursing room to avoid the prying eyes of the others ( I was DF, my old hall LOVED to stare!)

go back east to where the need is greater
by headmath inhow many times have you heard that phrase.
when i was a jw i heard that phrase alot.
it had a mystical sort of quality about it.
-
mama1119
I remember that. Why was the need so great in the east I wonder?? I always thought it sounded horrible to go where the need was greater because that would mean round the clock service, and I HATED going out in SERVICE!

How do you know if she likes you, I mean really likes you?
by Honesty inwhat kind of signals (this is a devout christian girl in her 30's.
never married.
never been a jw.
-
mama1119
Its hard to say because if she has no experience, she probably won't be giving clear signals. You might have to take the initiative and see if she catches on and flirts back.

Bethel meals
by Alligator Wisdom inhave any of you had the experience of eating with the bethel family?.
what were some of the idiosyncrasies of it?.
as i mentioned before in another thread, it was brought up to me by another jw guest after the meal that it was "as if this was like a cult" when everyone would drop their utensils on que, stand up in unison and end the meal with a prayer.
