I saw part of it but I get too scared watching movies so I turned it off. I will probably try again, I hear its fantastic.

Have any of you seen the movie "The Village"?
by Lady Liberty inabout a month ago a movie was on cable called "the village".
it was a freaky movie, and i was a little uncomfortable watching it, but nothing ever happened that made me turn the channel.
turns out there is quite a twist in the end which explained the freakyness.

If you have young ones being indoctrined - there is hope!
by Dawn inwhen i was df'd and made a decision not to return my son was only 4. my parents still did their part to indoctrinate him and he insisted on going to meetings with them quite often (i know - if i knew then what i know now i would have stopped that - but that's water under the bridge).
i spent many hours explaining to him why i did not believe it any longer, and having to suffer through him being upset with me for not going to meetings.
i just kept giving him information, explaining things to him - as much as i could in a non defensive way.. by the time he was 13-14 years old he barely went to meetings - mainly only when his grandparents guilted him into it.

I didn't know the scriptures when I was in the borg. I knew somewhat the order they were in, but I certainly didn't know any by heart. As far as answered prayers....I din;t have any...in the way I thought I would. In the long run, they were unanswered for a reason:
I prayed and prayed and prayed to get reinstated and never did..I used to be very angry about it, until I found out it isnt the truth after all, now I am free. My prayer wasnt answered for a reason. Now my entire family is free.
I used to pray and pray and pray that my daughters father would disappear. I thought he was irresponsible etc etc and didn;t want him to be around my daughter...now we are married, he is a great Dad, works hard for us, and we are expecting another baby girl in November. Also, not the answer I was looking for at the time, but for a reason
I kind of forget my point and got aff topic, but my I think I was trying to say, JW cannot claim they are the only holy spirit holders...even big bad DF'ers have it!!!!

THE JW MALE
by Dansk ini honestly believe most jw males stay in the orgnisation because they are given control, i.e.
married males have ultimate control over their wives and children.
i know a woman who was married to an elder and who said that prior to becoming a jw she would never be submissive to her husband.

I definitely agree. Not only power as head of the house, but for those MS and Elders, powers in the cong....they can't get it anywhere else so they stay put.

How many need to die before it raises a flag?!
by loli ini don't know about the rest of you, but in my geographical area, it seems that when a person is df'd, it raises their risk of suicide.
not only did i lose my baby sister when she was 21 this way, but in the last 5 years there have been seven people in the circuit who have taken their own lives.
some perhaps are considering it, or have attempted it and nobody reveals it.

There is definetely a higher risk for those who are DF. Why wouldn't there be??? They are made to think they are the lowest of the low, so low there family and friends must treat them as if they don;t even exist. It is sickening, but it is there control, they are not going to give it up easily!!

Who, on this board, go to church now???
by mama1119 ini wondered how many abandoned going to any kind of church.
or, if there are some who go to a church now.
was it weird at first to go?

I wondered how many abandoned going to any kind of church. Or, if there are some who go to a church now. Was it weird at first to go? Were you nervous about getting sucked in to something equally as dangerous as JW?

Please forgive me...!!
by ELON14 ini'm new here and this is the first post i make (i promise that more will come).
i have been following most of the posts made here quietly for about 4 months and i would like to thank all of you who are called apostates for the well documented and researched material you have presented here.thanks to you i know now the truth about the wt organization and i'm no longer blind and misled.
i disassociated myself about 2 months ago after 15 years of very "faithful" service to the society.i was regular pioneer for 12 years and an elder for 8 years, i served mainly as the service overeer.my experience was published in the 2 of the society's magazins.. as i was a very zealous and prominent elder in my circuit i zealously promoted the organizational rules and i allowed myself to be fully used by the society to promote those mind controle techniques that now i know hurt those who were my sheep.

dating out side the religion
by woody02302 ini just got divorced a couple of months ago.
our relationship soured after i stoped going to meetings, and unfourtunatly i am now back among the single after 5 years.. i recently started talking to a "worldly girl" and it is so diffrent and hard trying to explane all the bull shite that i was brought up with.
does this get easier?

It takes a good long while to get over it, I have found. This website really helps, its good for the soul. Dating is hard in general, I found. they say, if its the right one, it isnt hard, but I disagree. It is important to feel comfortable to talk to your girlfriend about your past, since it is part of who you are. My husband was not in the JW at all, but he listens to all my stories and complaints and gripes and I think he understands me alot more than when we first started dating.
I hope it all works out!

I am glad you were able to follow your heart windchime. I think this website will really help you feel truly free. It may help your husband understand why your parents treat you the way they do.
