Arrest ordered for mom of boy, 13, resisting chemo
by White Dove inhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090520/ap_on_re_us/us_forced_chemo.
this is just like jws refusing blood for their kids..

I'm sorry but I TOTALLY disgree with the comparison to the JW refusal of Blood and this young boy's parent's situation.
The Cancer INDUSTRY in the U.S. is a mUlti-billion-dollar industry, whose so-called war on cancer has lead to untold misery and death, and is NO closer to finding a "cure" today than 50 years ago. Surgery - Chemo- Radiation - DEATH! The end result SELDOM changes.
The boy's parents see the folly of keeping their son on that same path of death as SO many others before him, and are choosing a different mode of treatment.
If anything, I would say the super-powerful cancer industry is MORE like the WT Society than this family trying to excercise their own God-given rights!

Worshipping Jehovah without all the rules?
by ptucker8357 inhi again.... i've been searching around for a few days now trying to understand whether or not there are spiritual folks out there who believe some of the fundamental tenents of the witness religion, but don't believe in all the rules that the gb puts forth... many of the folks that i talk to tell me that the only way to salvation is through acceptance of jesus as god.
i do accept jesus as the messiah, as a perfect man that god sent to atone for the sins of adam, but i don't believe he is god.... i believe there is one god, one son and one holy spirit and they are not three persons in one god... i feel weird whenever i go to another service that exalts the trinity, as well as some other basic rituals of their religion.... am i making sense?.

Friends, Study Partners, and then GONE...
by ptucker8357 inabout a year and 12 ago, after much conversation with a jw co-worker, we began a formal study.
we studied religiously (no pun intended) almost every week unless i was on business travel or there was a sickness or other item that precluded us from getting together.. .
during that process, we became very strong, close friends... at least that is what i thought was happening.

Similar to a car salesman who approaches you in a very friendly manner to win your confidence, and a sale. When he realizes that your are not going to buy, he moves on to "greener pastures".

Ahhh.... But there IS something that you can do about it. DON'T buy into the madness!! Treat them BETTER than normal. Show them that the problem is not with YOU, but THEM and their following of stupid man-made rules!
Be happy with yourself, but feel SORRY for THEM. Turn the table around, because it is your family that is in "spiritual danger".
"Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake." - Mat 5:11

Introducing myself.........
by awildflower inhi all, i've been reading this site for about a month now and decided it was time to jump in.
it is truly a blessing to have people who know exactly what we are going through.

Think about it. What is the ONE ("Christian") religious organization existing today that does the MOST to SUPPRESS free thought?? The Watchtower Society!
WHAT religion today will actually kick you out for accepting GOD's word (the Bible) over THEIRS??
WHO fits Jesus following warning the best today?
"For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing God a service." -John 16:2
synagoge:
1) a bringing together, gathering (as of fruits), a contracting
2) in the NT, an assembling together of men, an assembly of men

The Society survives on FEAR. This should be a big RED FLAG for anyone in the Organization with doubts!! Because God does not work through FEAR, Satan does!
"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us." - 1John 4:18

Wildflower,
You mentioned something that I too have often thought of: "I think this org is in trouble because of the internet."
This may sound silly, but sometimes I wonder if the internet is not alluded to in scripture??
"And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth." - Rev12:16
Just a thought.

The "swagger" of the Organization is gone - or is it my imagination?
by BonaFide ini am in my early forties.
grew up in the truth.
i remember talks at the assemblies by the governing body in the 80's.

At least in the States and probably other "1st world" nations, the "swagger" seems to be gone. You can only fool the people for so long, and most in these countries are smelling something seriously wrong.
However, as one who also was associated with the Spanish-speaking congregations in the U.S., I can say that the "swagger" is going at full-steam in a Latin American countries. Most of those associated in those countries are very "new" in the organization and know next to nothing about its history. When I speak to them about things I know about the Organization, they look at me like I am absolutely NUTS.
I would bet that the same is the case for other third-world nations around the world.

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH DISAPPOINTMENT ? FORGIVE OR FESTER ?
by Sad Michael ini'm sorry for ruffling feathers here.
i seem to be quite good at it lately, as my wife has adopted apostate views ( you know what i mean) and seems to have found a new calling in trying to "free" all those who will listen.
i get all the other side of the coin i can handle right here.

Johnny
Funny that you mention this Sadmichael: "If I tell you something that I really believe is true, and later find out it's not, would it be better to let you believe I thought all along it was true, or tell you when I found out?"
Because I have always found it interesting that the Society NEVER says, "we were wrong". Is not that the first step towards forgiveness?
Where is their humility??
