we've frequently discussed how forums are different from real life, yet many have developed close friendships through this and other boards.
some posters are super friendly and personable and others just state their business and do not interact.
i understand human nature and cannot be friends with everyone.
"Desirous of change commented on the "signature" thread that signing one's real-life name, one's "signature", at the end of a post makes one seem more real in an otherwise anonymous setting" - compound complex. Actually, my real name is Mark but almost everyone calls me Sparky in my day to day dealings and I find using my 'nickname' here seems to be more personal and intimate than just being plain, old Mark. When I PM different ones here, I usually sign my real full name and also Sparky so the person can address me back any way that is comfortable for them. But I like the different 'nicknames' here such as 'compound complex' or 'millie210' or 'Village Idiot' or 'Blues Brother' because I feel that each poster is showing a more personal, intimate, quirky side of their personality by identifying themselves this way. Just my 2cents........
this is a true story.
it's about a sister named henriette venema.
she was a very loyal jw.
Jehovah's chariot is on the move.................Who's next?
they have made so many strategical mistakes it's hard to keep track.
some changes within the last decade or so that are contributing to declining numbers of jws:.
1. elimination of book study groups, the most informal, enjoyable and sociable of the jw meetings, contributed to loss of sense of community among jws.. 2. policy of consolidating kingdom halls.
Don't forget the demonization of poor little Sparlock!
there is nothing wrong with accepting new ideas.
even apostle paul changed his mind when he "saw the light".
indeed, i hope to learn new things every day.

They could 'retire' them and make them 'Governing Body Emeritus'. That would make room for the 'second string' players to come off the 'bench'.

i have been out and away from that cult since 2001. back then there were 12 members of the governing body, and now i'm learning that number has come down to 7. when did this change take place, and what was their reason for dropping the number?.
jookbeard.................the man in the three piece suit is Dan Sydlik. Ted Jaracz is directly in back of him and Ray Franz.

Tameria2001, here is a photo of the Governing Body (tm) from the mid 1970's when it was composed of 17 members; as Blondie rightly pointed out. All these men have long since died.
i am not sure how the wt does it or what technology is used.
but when i look at the jw.org website and look at pictures in the recent publications from the lord's evening meal / last supper, it seems very strange.. i turn on my tv, put on 3-d glasses and the apostles now appear to be current and former members of the governing body.. i turn the tv off, restart it, and it appears to be the same members but now they have changed seats.. very interesting.. rub a dub.
YES.................If I squint hard enough, I can see it too!!!
