Fisherman is absolutely correct. Once upon a time, Bethelites were encouraged to make Bethel life their career. From my acceptance letter: "I hope.....you will remain much longer and become a permanent member of the Bethel family." - N. H. Knorr ( signed in ink, not rubber stamped)

How Detached Are The Governing Body From Members Of the Bethel Family Where They Live?
by Brokeback Watchtower inwell consider for a moment the layoffs at bethel?
the gb simply reassigned them out in the field for after many years of service it seems with out batting an eye with no real severance pay.
now to me that spells detachment and lack of any real concern for those who served loyally for years.. spain is trying to get some type benefits for the people/citizens in their country who served the wt corporation for years and are no longer of any use to the corporation.

"It was the underling feeling that deep down you knew that they really didn't care for us workers." - new boy
And they 'made no bones about it'! I was having terrible digestion problems at Bethel. Most of the time I vacillated between constipation, diarrhea and throwing up. So I went and talked my issues over with Dr. Roylance. His answer was: 'If you don't like the food at Bethel, you can LEAVE at any time.' No medical advice or ordering of tests to see if he could help me. Years later, after still suffering I found out that I had severe 'gluten sensitivity'. Thank goodness for two REAL doctors from two different disciplines. Both were wise enough to give me an endomysial antibody blood test. I am still not 100% but am doing better than I was at 'Gods House'. At Bethel, you were just another 'cog in the wheel' that could be replaced at any time.

by new boy inthe forward the following story is my fifty year relationship with the watchtower bible and tract society otherwise known as the jehovah witnesses.

1000 Years is Like 1 Day?
by Sorry inanyone else hear about this.
as all j-dubs know, whenever someone complains about how long the "new system" is taking too arrive, they use the excuse that jehovah works on his own time.
quite a few times during the public talks, i've heard speakers say the phrase "1000 years to us is only one day to jehovah" (my parents never stop talking about this).

JeffT...........please, please, please stop using your 'worldly' 'Satan based' accounting education to try and figure out the meaning of Bible passages. You must leave that up to the 'fallible, error prone, uninspired but spirit directed' Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses.(tm) Other than that, your post was utterly fantastic and 'smirk worthy' to the highest degree!

Crisis of Conscience - The Movie
by cedars ini know... how cool would that be??!.
having just commented on the post by trailerfitter about the situation with his wife, and how i have personally found the book crisis of conscience by ray franz to be the perfect antidote to the society's perception of itself as being god's earthly organisation, the thought occurred to me: what if there was a movie about ray franz and his life?
obviously the society would be in uproar, and letters would be read out to all congregations all over the world not to go and see it, but just imagine!

I'll think about it. Give me some time to get used to the idea.
