Like Mom and Dad?
by compound complex inapart from the obvious -- "you have your mother's nose" and "you got dad's cleft chin" -- do you see any of your parent's behavioral traits and attitudes in yourself?
likewise, do you observe how your own children are 'apples fallen not far from the tree'?
the good, the bad, and the ugly?.

My father was a drunken bum and womanizer. I never met him and so I know nothing about his other personality traits. My mother on the other hand was a dyed in the wool Jehovah's Witness. She had lots of bad traits too. However, outside the immediate family she was generous to a fault. (Albeit with her children's support money!) And she was hospitable to people she liked. She was a good cook and could put on one hell of a meal! I have been trying to eradicate from my personality as much negativity and hurtful traits as I can since 1996 when I realized that I too could be a real asshole! 'Watchtower logic', as I am fond of calling it, can do a real number on our ability to think clearly, rationally and objectively about ourselves and others. Since Watchtower is constantly lying to us, I think it breeds in us a propensity to lie to ourselves and others as a matter of course, without even thinking about it. My worst trait that keeps popping up in me over and over again is contempt for other people. I saw it in my mother and I see it clearly in myself. I have been unsuccessful in eradicating it thus far.

I am a Living Time Machine
by TerryWalstrom inwhich world is this?_________________when the doctor pulled my screaming body out of mom all those 7 decades ago, i landed in a post-wwii world.it was--compared to today's world--an alien planet.. the world i live in today has nothing in common with the world in which i grew up.. there were no cell phones back then--there were black telephones with a dial-tone and an operator who placed your call.
everywhere you found telephone booths!
a call was a nickle.where did all those telephone booths go?i dunno.where did my whole world go?i dunno.. tv sets were huge boxes with tubes and small screens.

Riding through the middle of town with my Grandfather, in his 1959 Chrysler Windsor, I would stand up in the front seat beside him clutching a round Quaker Oats container full of Cocoa-Puffs! Terry, you've opened up the way for lots of good memories to come flooding forth.

ARC Analysis Summary of Case Files
by Richard Oliver ini have been doing research on the arc as some people on here have suggested.
i find it interesting on the case file analysis some of the findings.
it looks like queensland and new south wales had the biggest problems with this.

I would like to welcome the 'real' Richard Oliver to the forum, now that he has taken off his mask. Petty, vindictive, self satisfied, egocentric, self righteous, arrogant, self important, myopic, hubristic and childish didactic dilettante.

Great thread, Terry and a nice stroll down memory lane!
I remember this exact 'Bakelite' telephone sitting on my Grandfathers old 'secretary' that he kept his paperwork in.
To this day I still remember the telephone number: RIVERVIEW 9-0033!

Not a sympathizer
by Richard Oliver ini think everyone here is under the impression that i am a watchtower sympathizer, i am not.
i just like facts and when people say things, which are their opinions but that facts point out as not being true, than that is when i get so motivated to make a comment.
i have read posts here, listened to six screens and read jwsurvey and seen things that people say, which are opinion, but pass them off as fact.. there are legitimate things that people on here and former jws have concerns over without manipulating what is said or trying to pass off opinion as a fact.

" I don't care anymore. Do whatever the hell you want and want to believe."- Richard Oliver
TRANSLATION:
" No one here recognizes my superior intellect and wisdom. There is no need for me to see any other sides to any issue. I deal in facts only (albeit my own translation and interpretation of the facts). Why can't you all just agree with me and everything will be all right. If you aren't willing to play by my rules than I am going home!"
Outlaw had you 'pegged perfectly' towards the beginning of this thread:
"You ignore anything that doesn't fit your narrative...."
"You outright make shit up......"
