Jehovah's Witnesses is one mixed up and confused religion. Woman are the BACKBONE of this organization yet are viewed as second class 'citizens'. When I was a young boy in the 1960's I couldn't understand this scenario: There was an old anointed sister in our congregation that had been a school teacher and was a bookkeeper at a car dealership. She kept the 'accounts' for the congregation but was not actually THE Accounts Servant. She was a Book Study Conductor but was not teaching......she was just conducting the study. I always felt sorry for intelligent and accomplished women in this religion. If you had a dick you could hold a position in God's Organization and be a dick too!

Concealed carry Dubs
by scruffmcbuff ini spent a considerable length of time living and working in america (would love to imigrate one day).. almost everyone i worked with and made friends with carried a concealed firearm of somesort.
i found this pretty interesting and as an avid firearm fan even more so.. so to our american members here... .
as a jw did you or did you know any practising dubs who carried or if not had firearms for home defence?

Should kids learn cursive handwriting?

in times past, students would start learning cursive handwriting in third grade and by fourth should be transitioning to writing in cursive at all times.
as you might be aware, this has all but been taken out of the curriculum.

Here is my non-professional opinion:
I have wondered if giving up cursive writing would be detrimental in the long run for the mental and emotional health of a child and eventually for the maturing adult. Personally, I think it could be disastrous for a child's self-communication skills and ability to communicate with others clearly. When a child learns to form letters cursively, the neuronal connections in the brain for self conversation might strengthen as the child struggles to form the letters correctly and then to create a coherent sentence that will allow them to present their ideas clearly. Also, the effort to form cursive letters seems to take more concentration and could also lead to more a creative skillset than may be possible with just forming the block letters of printing. I personally believe that this is why young people are becoming less and less able to communicate clearly and openly with others; because they are losing the ability for self dialogue. (Of course, technology is also responsible for the inability for some young persons to communicate clearly when in personal conversation.) At any rate, I have talked my theory over with a psychologist, 2 high school teachers and 1 middle school teacher. All of them think that I am on to something but that they have never given the idea any thought. Just my own pet theory and I have no scientific basis for coming to this conclusion. If it were me, I would find time to teach cursive writing as another form of intellectual challenge for the child's developing brain.

Russia=King of the North, USA=King of the South? New info coming in from Annual Meeting 2018
by Jules Saturn init was announced in this year’s annual meeting that they believe that the king of the north is russia and the king of the south is us/britain.
for me this is the first time hearing from the society actually identifying the identity of the king of the north.
