Thank you Desirous Of Change. I will do just that:
My post on Knorr soup and any connection with Nathan Knorr was satire.
P.S.: To my knowledge Nathan Knorr had no connection with the Knorr soup company.
P. P.S.: Good luck Vienne with your project. The Knorr family deserves to be included in your early history writings since Nathan Knorr had such a huge influence on the Jehovah's Witness religion prior to the establishment of the modern day Governing Body in the 1970's.

"Folks, won't you try my soups. Their taste is 'heavenly' and they will open to you a whole 'New World' of flavor. Each spoonful will 'resurrect' your taste buds and transport you to a 'paradise' of pleasure. They come in 144,000 varieties and are fit for only a small 'remnant' of kingly palate's. Remember, Knorr soups have been delighting 'overlapping generations' since 1874. Yes my soups are indeed 'food at the proper time'!"

I spotted your satire right away, new boy. Very funny. Perhaps it takes an old time Bethelite that lived under the 'Knorr regime' like we did in order to understand the joke. At any rate, I have an interesting anecdote about Knorr's sister Isabel: It was my
privilegeassignment, to take Isabel, some assorted Knorr family members and Knorr's private secretary on tour of Watchtower Farms in the 1970's. When we came to the kitchen, she asked to go inside. I politely declined, informing them that it was against New York health codes to have tours examine the kitchen and food preparation area. Whereupon, Knorr's secretary took me aside and asked, 'Do you know who you are talking to?' I replied that I was well aware of who he was and who Isabel was. However, I said that if I broke the rules for them that it would be unfair for the 'rank and file' witnesses who may also wish to enter the kitchen area during a tour and I didn't feel that I could show favoritism. The secretary barged into the kitchen and asked who the overseer was. The kitchen overseer happened to be a boot licking, ladder climbing Bethel Elder. Needless to say, she got her kitchen tour. Remember folks, all Jehovah's Witnesses are equal, just some are more equal than others. -

Krazy, ain't it. In the 1970's I was counseled that I put too much feeling and animation into my Watchtower reading on Sundays. Drone....drone...drone....drone...drone

The Jehovah's Witnesses religion founded upon aggressive opportunistic people.
by Finkelstein intaking a reflective look back onto the founders of the jw religion such as c t russell and j rutherford we can see very opportunistic people who were avowed to themselves more so than being actual true bible interpreters and adherents.. indication of that is just how closed in these men were in their individually devised theology such as pyramidology, end times doctrine, jesus has returned and so on, where there was no effort to substantiate these claims from outside sources by other christian religious organizations .. c t russell was not an trained bible theologian by any imagination he just absorbed any outside information that he thought was engaging or provocatively interesting and went about publishing what others had found or expressed.
j rutherford was one these people who was lured into what russell was preaching and saw what the wts was as a publishing house and grab it including the money that russell had put into it.. the literature circulation and distribution continued on from him, what is realized now is the wts/jws preaching gospel work is not an faithfully accurate preaching according to scripture.
more or less the wts leaders created a working cult around its own public sales representatives in the pretense of preaching the gospel of jesus christ.

I agree that these men were opportunists. May I also add that they were god-intoxicated, self deluded, narcissistic, self promoting, grandiose religious fanatics that felt that god almighty chose them as his mouthpiece. A very dangerous combination, indeed.

What Do You Think Will Be The Next Big Change In The Watchtower?
by minimus ini think there will be a change in the 144000 belief.
too many witnesses think they have a heavenly hope.
maybe 1914 will be discarded too.. what is your watchtower prediction?

The 1914 doctrine fading away.............
The 144,000 doctrine fading away...........
Then the current Governing Body can completely throw Pastor Russell under the bus and say that he was just another Christian reformer along the lines of Calvin and Luther leading up to the establishment of the 'true church' in 1919 when the modern day Governing Body came into existence when 'the Holy Place was brought into the right condition.'

Movies that make you cry?
by new boy inthere have been many but i had a total melt down at the end of sophie's choice.
i hadn't cried in years before i saw that movie in in 1982. i was still very much a jw at the time.
i have no idea where the pain and sorrow came from, maybe it was the fact there are things people have gone through that we have defied all reason logic.

Every time I watch this on You Tube I don't know whether to 'laugh' or 'cry'.
I was 11 when this came out and we watched it at our book study group. Those were the days!
