i grew up with steve pare who is now an elder in southern california.

he sent me this note after i talked to him on the phone and sent him my book.. "the super-abundant blessings i have received in the advancing the earthly organization of jehovah have been fantastic !!!".

"jehovah is not behind in creating the paradise & his mighty of 9,000,000 will work with 20-50 billion to be resurrected & in 1,000 years the paradise will be done on time!!

I guess "New Boy" is now "The Bethelite"

i dropped my old computer 2 weeks ago and had to get a new one.

i tried to log on under "new boy" for over a week and since there was no way to retrieve my old pass word i gave up and started a new profile as the bethelite.

i just want to thank everyone for the help in getting my new book out, in fact i put this website in the dedication in the book.

i think every congregation has their group that sees everything as a sign that they are god’s chosen people.

if a witness didn’t go to a meeting and a storm came and destroyed their house and killed them, and only the kingdom hall was saved, that was a sign that we should be in jehovah’s house.

if russia persecuted jws , it’s proof we are living in the last days.

This describes me "to a T". Even as a young boy I knew that the Bible and the theology of Jehovah's Witnesses just did not make sense. But I 'played the game' in order to survive. I played it so well that there was talk of making me an Elder at 18 years old back in the early '70s and with my Bethel application was included a letter from the Circuit Overseer and the Body of Elders stating that I should be considered for the position of Circuit Overseer after my 4 years was up at Bethel. Such is the long, twisted, complicated and rocky road that we all travel in order to survive and get by in life.

I read through it in just a few days. My sister was up on vacation and read it in about three days. She never realized what some of us Bethelites had to go through. The book corroborated some of my own stories for her. Highly recommended for any non-Bethelite for a 'peek behind the curtain'.

"The Calendar of Jehovah God" - a historical tidbit

in 1935, clayton woodworth (editor of the golden age - later the awake!

magazine) devised a 'new' calendar that he proposed was far superior to the pagan calendars that have been used in human history.he wrote a three part series for the golden age (i am not sure if these were actually published) that laid out his justifications for how this new calendar was more accurate and of course, was right in line with the divine plan.

the calendar was published in the 1935 yearbook, but the watchtower magazine later published a retraction to the calendar.

'Stop wasting your time on that god-damned calendar!'

Not a direct quote. Just my memory of a conversation with Sam.

Ray Franz

i know ray and his wife have passed but i wanted to take a few minutes and put my thanks in writing.

it is pretty incredible to me that someone who i never met, played such a major role in my outlook on life and more importantly in my (at the time) young daughters lives.

from the very first pages of "crisis of conscience" it seemed as though ray was writing to me.

Except of course for those children that needlessly die from a lack of a blood transfusion, or are sacrificed on the 'altar of the two witness rule for child molesters', or shunning and disfellowshipping, or no worldly associates, or no holidays, or extra activities at school and on and on and on.......
