  the following comment by lieu on another topic shows me that i would be totally frustrated, actually exasperated, stifled and depressed in the modern form of jwdom: "therein lies the real problem billy, no one is paying any attention at regular meetings let alone conventions.

  it's too boring, intentionally i think.

  humans aren't hardwired to sit through hours of lecture with no interactions.

  Wow...............! I can't wait to be there. In the New System there are violins, bows to play them, manufactured 21st century style clothing, shoes, saddles for the horses and bridles, dimension lumber, manufactured nails, tools for building and gardening, printed blueprints for housing design, a table and dishes to eat from, a vegetarian menu and not a factory or electrical power line in sight! And yes, thank you Fisherman, if I am there I get to meet Joaquin Phoenix. I hope his brother River gets resurrected.

  i used to be a member of this site, but jumped off a good number of years ago (08?).

  i don't have access to my old email, so i'm using a new account.. anyway, i was baptized jw in late 90's.

  da'd mid 2000s.. when i left there were three meets a week plus field service.

  What a fu@king joke all of this is! When I was a young Bethelite arriving in 1974, I was as conservative as they come. I wore pleated pants and khakis instead of jeans. All of my suits were conservative and loose fitting. I was chided by other Bethelites for being too conservative. One who is now a Circuit Overseer used to torment me over and over again about my shoes. One pair had a strap with a buckle. He constantly told me that I looked like a 'Pilgrim' and why didn't I dress more 'hip'. When I got my glasses at Bethel, I chose rimless glasses like 'Papa Knorr'. The brother that sold the glasses to the society tried over and over to get me to change my mind. He told me, 'Brother Sparky, those glasses make you look like a nun. Don't you want something more stylish?'. So I gave in and bought a suit and shoes similar to the ones pictured. My pants were TIGHT as can be and I wore 'Beatle Boots' for shoes and was praised for being so stylish. At the time I was also a Ministerial Servant and no one counseled me on my improper dress. (My pants were tight and I had massive flares at the bottom. It was the style at the time.) Governing Body (tm) take your rules and put them where the sun does not shine. After I left Bethel I went back to being a conservative dresser.

  i'm just curious as to how it all happened.. to explain.

  many years back, before ex-jw websites, i called on a local lady in order to design an extension to her already enormous house.

  she was a young, voluptuous gal, married to a much older local business man who spared little expense in order to give his young wife whatever her heart desired.. we chatted for ages.
