FFM, that dude's website is hilarious. It reminded me why I could find no one who stimulated my mind while I was a dub.

Confidential Body of Elder Letters from 1981 through 2006
by Elsewhere inhere it is guys.
this is what darth frosty was talking about in his post the other day (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/149460/1.ashx).
this is a collection of confidential letters from the watchtower society that were sent to the bodies of elders in the years 1981 through 2006. these are the letters that you were never meant to see or read.. there's all sorts of information in them ranging from the boring and mundian to instructions about how to handle child molesters.. many thanks to darth frosty and others (who i'm not sure can be named) who worked very hard and took risks to collect and scan the information.

Atheists - What is the meaning of life?
by Paralipomenon inpersonally i am a agnostic with a complete rejection of a personal god.
without the concept of salvation my belief structure states that when i die, very likely that is it.
no amount of good or bad deeds will extend my life past the point of my death.

Whatever you want it to be. Find your own purpose.
"Man's Search For Meaning" by Viktor Frankl is a classic and is one great way to answer this question.

Climate Change. Yes the science is settled.
by mavie inthe science is settled.
special interests do not want you to think that it is.
"in a candid memo about political strategy for republican leaders, pollster frank luntz expressed concern that voters might punish candidates who supported more pollution, but he offered advice on the key tactic for defusing the issue: "should the public come to believe that the scientific issues are settled, their views about global warming will change accordingly.

Do you honestly think that a planet this size will have a perfectly consistent temperature?
No. The planet is in a period of warming. We are moving out of an ice age towards a greenhouse age. This cycle has occured many times in recent Earth history. Do you believe that humans have no effect on this cycle? Global temp closely tracks CO2 levels
And still no comment from the global warming apologists.... Isn't that amazing?
Another ad hominem attack. I was on vacation.
the transition to religion takes place when a person who is ignorant of the actual science not only believes alarming claims that he or she does not understand, but when that individual wants to believe these claims.
This is true. CB, how do you explain the correlation between CO2 levels and global temp?
I'm well aware the Earth will probably enter another Ice Age in perhaps as little as 15,000 years. However in the short term the Earth in warming up. We are in a cycle moving from Ice Age to Greenhouse Age. Humans are helping it along.
Here is a great CBC documentary on the subject.

Brent, the adoption of the Montreal Protocol led to phasing out of substances responsible for ozone depletion. Since the adoption of the protocol these substances have leveled off and are beginning to decline in the atmosphere. Current projections indicate a recovery of ozone in the atmosphere to 1980 levels by 2050-2070.
The international community did the science, identified a solution, and now we are seeing the positive results.
It wasn't a hoax. -

mkr, your post is the best post I've seen here yet. The Earth is warming, case closed. That science is settled.
coffee black, i'm curious why you think xjw's who believe the Earth's climate is changing, based on conclusions reached by many climatologists that have analyzed the massive amounts of data available today, are similar to cultists. Which of the 4 basic categories of cult behavior do you see in action? It seems like an ad hominem attack attempting to discredit those who have examined the evidence for themselves and reached a conclusion. -

"Imagine the results if more people accepted their religion as the best faith for them, but at the same time recognized that there are other religions which teach about other deities, other systems of morality, other religious practices, etc. Yet almost all of them motivate people to lead better lives. There might be fewer people willing to defend their particular religion by oppressing or killing followers of other religions and spiritual paths."
I think this is fantastic. Personally, I am an atheist. I still recognize the value of religious belief in others. I also find much beauty in some of the major religious world traditions. As long as someone is not attempting to impose those beliefs on others they are ok with me.
