She sounded so inspiring and her writing is very poetic and questioning of the status quo. I think that is a hallmark of many who leave the JWs. They tend to question everything - (sometimes even things that don't need to be questioned so much, perhaps).
Reminded me of one of my favorite quotes:

Leo, that guy is Michael Stipe. Yes, he does have a rather monotone way of speaking. I find it to be engaging rather than boring, maybe because I grew up in a family who spoke with much emotion in the voice. I find his calm, logical, rational way of speaking to be refreshing.
He has a commanding presence when performing.

i don't think i am an apostate, but do feel like one for being on these boards as we were always warned not to at the meetings etc.. i disagree with so many things they teach, the main thing is the blood issue....being a new auntie, i love my niece soooo much and if i were the only person that could save her, how on earth could i not?

that in my books, would be murder.. however, may be it's because i've only been away from the mtgs for a year, but i still think of it most days and although i feel i've made the right decision as nothing was making me happy in it, and obvioulsy my ex beating me and getting away with it.....i still feel a certain pull towards it and a kind of insane loyalty???.
It's natural to feel this pull towards the religion. I recommend finding the book "Combatting Cult Mind Control" by Steve Hassan. He explains why cult members feel this pull even though they may just be going through the motions.

Well, he is serving in North Idaho right now. Should finish up this summer and then get reassigned. He is very outgoing and lighthearted with the congregation. During MS and Elder meetings he is quick, witty, and brings cookies.
