Two JW`s called at my door today
by smiddy3 inthe wife and i were expecting a health worker to call at our door 10:30 this morning and about 10;35 two women appeared at our door so i opened up thinking they were who i expected ,so i was take back a bit being caught off guard when they identified themselves as doing a bible work.. this is just the gist of what took place & not a word for word conversation.. a woman about in her fifties her companion about her twenties.the older woman did most of the talking as she read to me the scripture from her phone " in the last days critical times hard to deal with...etc.etc.and she went back and emphasised that we were living in the last days because of what that scripture said.. i made the comment that the scripture just about sums up human history in any given time.then i went on to say that this day and age is the best time in human history overall given the advances in technology ,medical procedures ,the overall standard of living being higher and so on .but they insisted on we were living in the last days.then i said different religions have been claiming that for the past couple hundred years.. then to throw them a curve ball i asked if they were mormons ?
oh no we are jehovah`s witnesses.had i been prepared for them and not caught out unawares i would have taken a different tact.i then asked the older woman how long she has been a witness and she said 36 years so i then said to her you must have seen a lot of changes in your religion during that time which she agreed with.
( the light gets brighter).

The Australian gov has set up the National Redress scheme for victims. Most churches/orgs have joined.
JW org is lagging, nowhere to be seen as yet.
In the state of Victoria the Catholic church was worth more than $9 billion, making it the biggest non-government property owner in the state – and much wealthier than it had admitted in evidence to major inquiries into child sexual abuse.
Figures extrapolated from a huge volume of Victorian council valuation data showed the church had more than $30 billion in property and other assets, Australia wide.I don't think the org can match the Catholic church wealth or the Anglican - I know that most halls and churches of the Anglicans are to be sold off in Tasmania to pay out their victims.
What the org has in real estate wealth here in Australia, kingdom halls, etc - reading through here can only mean they are in dire need to recompense their abuse victims also but telling the rank and file a different story.

North Korean Gift to "American Bastards" for Independence Day
by cofty innk has taken another important step towards having a viable nuclear arsenal with the successful trial of an icbm.. kim jong-un says new missile is 'gift' to 'american bastards' from north korea on independence day.. one major hurdle left for kim jong-un is working out how to make his nuclear bombs small enough to be delivered by the missile.
that is not an insurmountable obstacle.. the us sate department have issued a statement stating that it "will never accept a nuclear-armed north korea".
how exactly to prevent this outcome is not clear.

How it's viewed here, Australia, re North Korea.
Gareth Evans, former Foreign Minister says ""Sheer dumb luck we've avoided a nuclear holocaust".
