by Gorbatchov intonight gorby and his wife watched a part of the 2015 may edition of jw broadcasting.
we couldn't force our self to watch the full stuff, because of it's sneaky way of production.
first of course the dynasty melody at the start, the world map background and the car salesman mr. lett.

**MUST READ** AlanF's email to Knocking.org
by sf inthis is a must-read that, hopefully, will stay an "active topic" for all seekers and lurkers, by bumping it to the top as often as possible.
alan wrote it in randys {dogpatch} thread regarding knocking.org documentary and in reply to the email mr. engardio sent to barbara anderson.
however, it is so vital a read that it indeed needs its own thread:.

Jesus' Hands and Buddha's Head
by CloseTheDoor ini overheard an elder and sister talking last sunday.

I overheard an elder and sister talking last Sunday. She has been helping her mother move things out of her house to get ready for moving into a retirement home. She told the elder that her mother gave her one of those "praying hands" plaques and asked if she should keep it or throw it out. The elder said some people have had bad experiences with those, and it would probably be best to toss it out.
I don't have a problem with having one of those or not, to each his own. But the problem in what he said is that I heard the same elder tell another person that it was OK to have a small Buddha statue (a tiny Buddha head) in his apartment if it's only viewed as an insignificant nick-nac (decor) and not "worshiped." (The apartment was a furnished rental and the brother had no choice as to what was in there). Personally I thought the counsel was hypocritical on this elder's part. I have heard of others not wanting those "praying hands" plaques in their homes because they believed they are "too creepy." He said he would find a Watchtower article on the matter, but I don't know what may have been said in his follow up. I know some other elders who would never advise a publisher that it's OK to have a statue of Buddha in their home - or any religious statue for that matter.
I remember reading an article or "Questions from Readers" section about the use of religious figurines if they are only viewed as nick-nacs and not used for religious purposes. (I can't find it though). A December 22, 1976 Awake! seems to touch on this. -

Nothing Says, "I Love You!" Like Institutionalized Shunning!

Oubliette said:
"Disfellowshipping keeps the Christian congregation clean." - w2015, 5/15, p. 30, paragraph 7.
Really? Then why are there so many pedophiles in the congregation that have never been disfellowshipped?Good point! Agreed. While I don't think there are pedophiles in my local congregation, we have a lot of other problems (wife beatings, pornography, adultery, adultery, and adultery), and it would be a stretch to refer to the congregation as "clean".

Some have carried calling cards in the past, at least in the U.S. The one pictured is different. We used to make our own. -

Yes, the Watchtower that was studied recently (for April 26, 2015) was similar where they seem to be praising the Roman Empire because of it's enforcement of "peace" throughout many lands which made it possible for early Christians to preach the good news. During that time, both Jews and Christians met their deaths during the "Pax Romana."
This was yet another watered down article.
