The Organization was encouraging people to study the Babylon and other books, as late as 1984, according to this quote from Our Kingdom Ministry.

Many have been helped greatly to grow in knowledge and understanding by reading some of the older publications such as “Your Will Be Done on Earth” and the “Mystery” and Babylon books. Ask audience to comment on benefits of reading such older publications. Encourage youths to benefit from such reading. (Our Kingdom Ministry, June 1984, page 2)

For Active Jehovah's Witnesses

this is a reminder for some, and fresh bible guidance for new arrivals to this site.. have you been "witnessing" today, or are you planning to?.

revelation 12:17 - ".......and have the work of bearing witness to jesus.".

acts 8:16 - ".......been baptized in the name of the lord jesus.".

I knew of an elderly sister Pioneer back in the mid 1980's (now dead) who would always open by saying, "We are out and about today talking about Jesus." And then she would continue with what the Kingdom Ministry had provided. It used to crawl all over the skin of the elders when they would hear her do that. They never counseled her for it though.

She really loved Jesus and was not shy to tell others about her faith in God's Son.

She was a rare bird.

Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses

allow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.

i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.

some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

Thank you for sharing that Brother Jeramy. It is good and encouraging to see others who share the same thoughts as my family on the matter. In whatever situation we find ourselves, it is always good to "make sure of all things, hold fast to what is right." (1 Thess. 5:21)

There was one I knew who was DF'd because of hiding information for more than 12 years. His spouse, also a Witness at the time, was a well paid secretary for a church two towns over. He kept this a secret for years until someone spotted her in a parking lot. Both were DF'd.

An elder on the judicial committee told me that she flat out refused to give up the job because the money was too good and she needed to support the family since her anointed husband did not have a job. His duties with the Org. were too demanding, and otherwise the family would be destitute. Both drove very nice cars and seemed to have a new one every year.
