You're right, it is kind of lame to attend some service "once" a year......I had never been in a Lutheran Church, Duh,
I wonder why....Anyway, I thought last Palm Sunday would be a good time to check one out (lots of "once-a-year
-visitors, noone would notice me) well my supervisor at the time thought I was the BIGGEST hypocrite (she wasn't
aware of my background) she said "I don't know WHY some people go to church once a year, I mean why bother
to make an appearance "once a year" if you're not going to bother all YEAR? So why IS it that JW's EVERYWHERE
try to make EVERYONE make an appearance once a year if they believe or not, it's like that's irrelevant to them. Is
it possibly because the attendance is recorded in the WT? I don't remember but I believe it's like a BIG deal how
many people attended....Proof that more are seeing the truth and the END is near ? -

Jehovah must have thought that those people didn't need any "light." (The people that lived between the death of Christ
and the birth of the WTS) Poor cowboys......
P.S. don't pick on Fred, he makes for a "lively" discussion!!! -

Advice Needed on Memorial Invite!!
by dins intoday, while on the phone with my jw mother, she drops the, by the way do you want to come to the memorial thing for the first time in i don't know how many years.
i was kind of taken aback and said that i would think about it.
obviously, i have no intention of going, but should i just say nothing, say no, or just say i don't agree with the jw doctrine at all and to attend would be hypocritical of me?

"If I ever get desperate enough for companionship that I feel like going back to meetings, I'll shoot myself first."
ScullyI don't know Scully, it looks like a lot of former JW's have taken that literally..........

Fred,
I don't get it. Are your cited scriptures supposed to be support that the witnesses
are on the "true" path? ummmm... I guess maybe Jimmy Swaggert, and others, are
doing good works in that case. Isn't he indeed spreading the "good word?"
Taken from Webster's Dictionary:
False:"uttering what is untrue" (I'll provide on request)
Prophet: 1."a person who speaks by divine inspiration. 2. a person who foretells the future.
So which are they, the JW's, false prophets or just fortunetellers?

Hi Sharon,
My heart goes out to you and your family. I don't know if I can even attempt to put into words
what I feel for you in my heart. It brought tears to my eyes when I looked at the picture of
your sister. She was just beautiful and I couldn't help but think that she could've easily been my,
or everyone else's, sister. I hope one day soon you'll be able to think of her, and a smile will
warm your face.
Love, T -

dins, I'm in the same boat as you are! In fact, the reason I finally found these web sites is I wanted some
insight as to the Memorial ! That was like, three days ago, I got side-tracked by the "Bryant" thing, and UN
thing, and ALL the info here! I'm the only one of my siblings and close relatives that was never baptized,
I ditched the religion at 18 when I was old enough to move out. The religion caused alot of hurt in my family
when my father was df'ed, he died about 5 years after. Anyway, I've been cool with going to the Memorial,
just because I could handle sitting in that hall ONCE a year in order to somewhat keep the family that I had left.
(my parents are now both deceased) I like you, have a child and I sometimes feel that for her sake, for her to
at least KNOW her uncles, aunts, cousins (who all adore her) I should not let something as minor as going to
the hall once a year jeopardize that. Now, I feel differently. Before I just didn't agree with the Witnesses....Now
after seeing some of the things on these sites, I feel like I absolutely could not be comfortable stepping into
a Kingdom Hall. And all those faces in your face inquiring WHEN you're going to come back so that YOU TOO
may live FOREVEEEEEEEEEEER......oooh, I think it would give me the heebie-jeebies!!!! The thing is, I watched
my father spend a good portion of his life devoted to the Society, and the end of his life, hurt and bitter, spending
hour after hour researching the b.s. of the WTS. It's hard to know where to draw the line......After reading abused-
lambs though, at "silentlambs," I really don't think that I would feel right about walking into that place. I guess if
I didn't go, the ball would be in my siblings' court. If I go, I almost feel as if I'd be saying that what the org. did
to those innocents was excusable.....What do you think?
Peace, a dead daisyhe has

BEST BRYANT-SHUNNING NEWSPAPER ARTICLE SO FAR

GEEZ M A !
Take a pill, you sound about as P.O.ed as I was yesterday after reading the "abuse" article that accompanied
the "shunning" article !!!! I am new to this, so maybe those WTS links were right in
front of my face but I didn't see them! I'll go back and look now and CLICK on the blasted things. If anyone
else takes a look at the articles, including the "ABUSE" article at
http://news.statesmanjournal.com/article.cfm?i
please drop the editor an e-mail and let him, or her, know what you think. Suicide and taking the lives of your loved
ones is tragic enough. The added disrespect of a newspaper slandering you in death is unexcuseable. I hope that Janet
Bryant's sister files a suit. I wish the WTS would be sued by all the people that it brought "mental duress"
upon, JW's and former JW's alike.when a newspaper slandered me. Noone here really has even mentioned the "Abuse" article which
accuses this man of domestic abuse because he "isolated" his family from his JW family.., except
"waiting." -

I'm really new here, don't have alot to say yet, but I don have a request regarding this newspaper article. There's a couple of articles in that edition, the one on "shunning" is really good. Thanks "M A" for the lead! The thing that REALLY bothers me though is another article at the same site, http://news.statesmanjournal.com/article.cfm?i
entitled "Bryant Profile Typical of Abuse," or something like that,
that has some so-called "expert" stating that "even though there were
no physical signs of abuse," the fact that Bryant "isolated" his family from family and friends in Califronia led this expert to believe that there was domestic violence....Where does this so-called
expert and this reporter get off seemingly finding this man guilty of domestic abuse without him being able to answer in his defense? I wrote an e-mail to the editor (at the website of the article) and told him or her that their "expert" should do some research on this cult before she gives her "expert" advice!! I mean the one article is
saying how depressed the wife was because of this "shunning" from family and friends, how Bryant's dad broke off from their joint business when Bryant was DF'ed, how they finally just left California, and then that article claims he ISOLATED his family from their JW family, therefore, there was DOMESTIC ABUSE!!!!!! This is an injustice to a family that had already suffered in life without this undue disrespect in death. I hope that readers here will check out the articles and if you agree that's it's b.s., then LET THE PAPER KNOW....I called the reporter also (JANET DAVIES @ 503-399-6719) and let her know what a disservice she's done. If there was any abuse, it was on the part of that organization and it's active members !
