i suppose their excuse is that the shares were donated as gifts and through wills etc, yet surely they should not accept them if they are not appropriate to the teachings of the organisation.

right.....that's the way to get to the "bottom of it," call the WTS......I did, in fact, call Mr. Robertson, before I found financial statements, and he put me on hold until I hung up, three times.....odd behavior for a president of a company.........besides, if I'm not mistaken, it's the WTS, not me, that should be concerned with explaining why their "Godly" organization's name is on the SEC Filing.....oh, but wait, then they'd have to actually admit to something.......Scandal? uhhmmmm, is that what this is?

yea, that must be it.......all the business wires, all the SEC Filings, all the financial disclosures, everything and everyone is in error, oh except for the WTS.......

David Semonian, spokesman for the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses,admitted the group sometimes looks at the website "when necessary." He also said it attempts to "readjust(the) thinking " of those who post material critical of the religion on the web."

1) a spokesperson for JW's admits the group looks at the website. note: he does not say that they have a third party look, he states that "the group sometimes looks at the website.."

2) "when necessary" does this mean every day? no, it means "when necessary," which leads anyone (well anyone with a brain) to believe that this is most likely when scandals are possible......

3)"He also said it attempts to "readjust the thinking" of those who post material critical of the religion on the web." How in the world is the WTS going to "readjust the thinking" of those that post on the web , unless, the WTS monitors the fricking thing!!!!!!

Answer: In light of the material presented, I would have to agree with you Quotes, and Path, the WTS does not monitor websites, they only admit to it...........

We Need Money

I agree 100% Sam, ex-JWs would be a force to be reckoned with if they were organized.....

how do you really "focus" this many energies on the same direction when they're all on keyboards across the globe? Still, the possibilities are awesome.........

IMHO, it will take a lot more than money, though tons of money never hurts.......but it would take a lot of determination and joined effort......perhaps you should start a "sign-up" sheet of those that would be willing to contribute a small amount for say, 6 months, to see how it went......if you got enough names.........it would be difficult though unless willing posters knew that they weren't going to be the only ones contributing......

I think there are many, many posters here that would contribute if they trusted it was a group effort and were comfortable with the way it was being handled.....there are a lot of strong, passionate people here, I haven't been here long and I've already seen that.....I wouldn't sell them short.....

forgot to add that if you did start a "combat the WTS" list of prospective contributors, you could let them know that they would be no under no obligation to contribute unless the "list" had a minimum of say, 500 signers, at 10 or 20 bucks a month for six months......this way people would know when signing their name that there were going to be at least 499 (or however many) other posters contributing in a concerted effort.....then if enough posters signed, at the end of the 6 months these posters could vote on where they wanted the money to go........

just a thought, a "chain" contribution thread might be cool though......especially if it was going to help someone like shunned father....this man is being literally beat down....

hey dutchie, in that case, maybe we're both right.....

but I just can't see an "outside" firm taking the time to have someone "trained" to monitor ex-JW forums.......I mean if "legal" has any JWs whatsoever, why wouldn't they just get information from them? Certainly as WTS's "legal dept.," they would be bound to confidentiality anyway......
