Who controls the WTS?
by Defender inmany exjws, inactive or those still in but see the many problems that are associated with the org keep asking when will the society change.
they keep wondering whether the gb is aware of the problems and if it is, why does it not do anything.
certain gb members might even comment privately about some misgivings they may have toward certain policies or doctrine, yet fail to act.. i believe there are a number of reasons, but the main ones are gb internal dynamics and external influence.. concerning gb internal dynamics, it has been known that in a tight knit authoritarian system, whether it be a dictatorship, committee based, or even sometimes democratic, the one that suggests a major change does so at his own peril.

WT July 1, 2001 (Part I)
by Defender inthe study article of rejoice in the knowledge of jehovah stresses the importance and benefit of gods word that is found in the bible.
in deed, if jehovahs witnesses are doing anything right, it is the fact that they are turning peoples attention towards the bible and the rewards and treasures that can be had when applying its wise counsel.. if the matter had stopped here, then all is well.
but that is not the case.. starting in paragraph 7, under the subtitle the light becomes brighter the writer points to jesus efforts in combating jewish traditions and describes how the gospels were added.

The Good, The Bad and Evolution
by Defender inin the bible account of genesis, there we were told that adam and eve ate from the forbidden tree of knowledge of good and bad and thus, like god, they started to know good and bad.
these few words and actions apparently changed the course of humanity.
even if we assume that this account is just a fable and did not actually happen, a number of questions and issues come up namely;.

Batting averages: WTS vs apostle Peter
by Defender inthe society publishes an average of 22,000,000 wt and 19,000,000 number of awake magazines every two weeks.
if we assume that 6,000,000 of each go toward the number of active publishers as their personal copies.
that leaves 16,000,000 issues of wt + 13,000,000 for awake = 29,000,000 that are to be used for disciple making.. multiply 29,000,000 by 26 = 754,000,000 average yearly printing.. divide 754,000,000 by 288,907 (number of baptized in 2000) = 2609. yes, 2609 number of magazines (not counting books, brochures and tracts) must be distributed in order to recruit one new member.. now for the number of hours; .

WT May 1 & June 15, 2001
by Defender inthe may 1 and june 15, 2001 watchtower issues have reading articles about helping widows through their trials and look after orphans and widows in their tribulation.
both articles contain very healthful counsel, tips and recommendations to the grieving and needy and to those around them on how, and when to offer help and support.. the problem with these articles is not that the average jw or local congregation elders are not doing their part in helping out the needy.
in fact, most individual jws are as compassionate and supportive as the average person.

WT June 1, 2001 (part II)
by Defender inthe second article of discussion in this issue is titled: "moving ahead to final victory!".
the article starts to talk about christs enthronement as king and in paragraph one, along with an illustration of crowned jesus riding on a white horse, it states: "we today, have clear evidence that this foretold enthronement took place in 1914.. since watchtower article discussions are always a one way dialogue, where the society speaks and the rank and file just listens, it is easy to make assertions.
in a normal two way dialogue, when one says "i have clear evidence" for something, the other party will not just nod his head in agreement, but would rather demand to know and see what this clear evidence is and would want to proceed and examine it thoroughly.

Early Christians not expect parousia in their time
by Defender inthe wts claim that the early christians did not anticipate the lord's presence or parousia in their time.
the watchtower dec 1 1984, page 11 states:.
"freethinkers and even some of christindom's theologians claim that the early christians believed that christ's parousia or presence, was due to occur in their day".. "as to the early christians' belief in the imminence of christ's presence, a scholarly refernce work* states: "the case for assuming that paul expected the parousia soon in 1 thess.
