It is something that made God and Jesus happy. (Just a hint, not the last part of the riddle.)

Monkyshine, really good reasoning. "In one man (Adam) all men are dying, so to through one man all are brought to life" should include Adam and Eve, the flood people and Sodom. Not the right answer though. Ask more questions!

THX AuldSoul, how do you include the second part of the riddle "Jesus wanted it, but couldn't do it"?

The thing wanted is directly discribed in the bible -no need for interpretation- it is written about by a number of writers.

The answer is found in the bible. Where does it say God wanted to do that?
Edit: Now I get you point...exellent...how do you include Jesus in your answer?

Monkyshine...very good.
Though, it does not fit the final part of the riddle. But I save it to the last, because it gives it away.
Think about things Jesus wanted or ask more questions about 'it'.

So far the riddle goes:
God wanted it done, but didn't do it. Jesus wanted it, but couldn't d it.
What are things both God and Jesus wanted? Something God didn't do and Jesus couldn't do.
Let me know if should give the last clue, because I could and would.

Receive exclusive devotion from whom?
Did I get you right? Jesus wanted to recieve exclucive devotion, but couldn't because it belonged to god.
Did Jesus want something that belonged to the father?

God wanted worship, but didn't do it. -OK
Jesus wanted worship, but couldn't worship. Well, he did worship the father, didn't he.
Edit: I replied before you first correction
