that is really strange. I've never heard of such, and no I wouldn't go either. I now worship Jesus.

When former Witnesses do this, it kind of freaks me out.
by free2beme inokay, this is going to step on someones toes, i just know it.. when i stopped going to the meetings, i was talking a person at the time in the 1990's who had been out for a long time.
i thought it was interesting when he mentioned that he still went to meetings and worshipped jehovah, just not with the watchtower.
so i was wondering what he meant, and one weekend while in california with him and a group function for my employer at the time, he invited me to go a meeting.

Pharisees!
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? ini'm sure this kind of thing has been discussed before, but who here thinks the elders remind them of the pharisees with their guidelines strict rules?
like the length of a slit in your skirt, or no sideburns on men or no beards, or men can't dye their hair, or no colored dress shirts or suits on the "brothers".
they would say these were guidelines but then take your "privileges" away if you didn't comply.

Holidays
by I-follow-the-narrow-path injw's don't celebrate holidays, because they are pagan and would offend jehovah god to partake in them.
what about the memorial though?
i mean, why is it okay to celebrate that?

Sweetheart, don't make the same mistake that I made. I started studying when I was 17, and I was very naive. The 5 years that I was a JW were the loneliest years of my life. What they do is they prey on your fears, fear of displeasing God. Then before long, you won't be talking to your friends or your family that aren't witnesses. The people in the congregation will be extremely nice to you initially, but once you're baptized they'll drop you like a hot potato! And you won't be able to celebrate holidays with the rest of your family, so what you do is you spend a nice, quiet evening at home by yourself, because I guarantee that you won't see another Witness on those days either! And they'll have to so scared to do anything that might bring a reproach because if you do, they'll disfellowship you. And not only will you be banished from the congregation, but everybody will shun you! Does this sound like the pleasant life that they make it out to be? I'm not making anything up because this was my experience. Please do research and study their history of false prophesy, and other ex-JW testimonies.
Also, Jesus said at John 14:6, " I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the father except through me." that means that our salvation comes through Jesus Christ, and Him alone. We do not have to work ourselves to death to be approved by Jehovah.

Just the fact that they want to control EVERY aspect of your life, from how you wear your hair, your clothes, how you keep your house, and not to mention your sex life! They make the Pharisees look like sheep!
